Bringing you skincare through rich herbal infusions - from the earth, for the people

Thought I'd share my COPD journey as bit.
I'm on a daily inhaler and it makes me cough a fair bit, but I'm able to use much more of my lungs.
It makes me aware that I've been trying to breathe into a brick for a while now.
Herbs will always be my medicine of choice but it's also good to work together, so I've been working on a Lung Tea.
I work mostly with what my garden tells me, in this case, the mullien has been so abundant. This is a sovereign herb for healing the lungs. Thyme is always welcome for it's aromatic antibiotic and antiseptic properties. Horehound, while very bitter, is a fantastic cough calming herb and grows wild on our acreage. A bit of store bought ginger to fight inflammation and thin lung goop.
In the pan for 30 minutes of steeping. The dried herbs soak up a lot of the water, so I squeezed the tea out.
For more healing, I added an equal part of fresh citrus juice and a half cup of honey from our bees.
It's a concentrated tea.
I'll freeze some so I can throw an ice cube onto my water.
But I'm enjoying a glass and feeling my lungs getting better!

How wonderful

One of my favorite herbs! It's a struggle growing it in sunny dry Northern Colorado, but I've managed to get a couple of patches established.
I use this herb in my wonderful healing herbal products.

Our 2025 Notable Native Herb is Prunella vulgaris L. It is native to lower 48 states and Alaska.

Prunella vulgaris, commonly known as Self-heal or Heal-all, is a diminutive plant species that is spread widely across temperate areas of the globe. It is native to North America and appears in all 50 states.

At its best in open woodlands, it is often overlooked because of neighboring plants towering over them. Generally growing in the range of 3” to 10” tall, it scrambles across the earth by means of rhizomes, reaching up with stalks bearing lavender-blue to deep violet and occasionally white flowers from April to September, depending on latitude and elevation.
