Let's talk about one of the biggest reasons your skin feels dry, tight, irritated, or constantly dehydrated: TEWL. In simple terms, it's the process of water escaping from your skin into the environment.

A small amount of TEWL is normal. The problem happens when your skin barrier becomes compromised, and water leaves faster than your skin can replace it.

Here in West Texas, our dry, arid climate can accelerate water loss from the skin, making barrier support even more important. The goal isn't just adding water to the skin. The goal is helping your skin hold onto it.

One of the biggest culprits is TEWL, or Trans Epidermal Water Loss.

Our dry, arid climate constantly pulls water from the skin, making it harder to maintain a healthy barrier and that coveted glow.

To keep water in the skin, we need what I call the "trinity" of barrier support:

✨ Ceramides
✨ Fatty Acids
✨ Lipids

Of those three, ceramides are the MVP. They help seal moisture into the skin and strengthen the barrier so hydration stays where it belongs.

If your skin feels tight, dull, or constantly thirsty, it may not need more water. It may need a stronger barrier.

"And I remembered I loved you..."

Me reconnecting my clients with the basics:

✔️ Barrier repair
✔️ Hydration
✔️ Professional treatments
✔️ Daily SPF

Because sometimes the best thing for your skin isn't chasing the newest trend. It's coming back to what actually works.

Packing skincare shouldn't feel like a game of Tetris.

When I travel, I want products organized, protected, and easy to find.

My current favorites:
✈️ KUSSHI bags
✈️ Parallelle bags

Both help keep products upright, organized, and visible so you're not digging through a pile of bottles every morning.

Think you have to wait until fall for skin treatments? Not necessarily.

Microneedling is one of my favorite treatments to perform during the summer months because it carries less risk when it comes to heat exposure compared to some other corrective treatments.

✨ Improves texture
✨ Softens acne scars
✨ Supports collagen production
✨ Helps create healthier, stronger skin

It's also a treatment that works for almost everyone, making it one of the most versatile options in the treatment room.

There's been a lot of buzz around new SPF filters being approved by the FDA, and while advancements in sun protection are exciting, my recommendation remains the same.

Mineral sunscreens sit on the surface of the skin and reflect UV rays, providing broad-spectrum protection while being well tolerated by many skin types, especially sensitive and acne-prone skin.

The best sunscreen is the one you'll wear consistently, but if you're looking for a recommendation this summer, mineral SPF is still the gold standard in my book.

June is Acne Awareness Month! One of my favorite ways to treat acne-prone skin is by combining the Linder Health Spotless Peel with microneedling. Together, these treatments work to target active breakouts, congestion, inflammation, post-acne discoloration, and overall skin texture.

The Spotless Peel helps clear and calm acne-prone skin, while microneedling supports skin renewal and improves the appearance of acne scars. When paired together as part of my Microneedling Plus treatment, we can take results even further by incorporating Pico laser and retinol for a comprehensive approach to acne correction.

Having advanced technology is important, but it is not what creates results on its own. Understanding how to use it, when to use it, and why is what makes the difference.

I started with Quanta Lasers and later merged into Cartessa because I believed in the technology, innovation, and results. Up until two years ago, I was the only provider in the Panhandle and this side of Dallas offering this level of laser technology.

10 years later, I still choose to partner with them because transparency, education, and results will always matter most.

The skincare industry is full of noise. 🗣️ New products, new trends, new claims constantly being pushed. The truth is, most of it is marketing.

💡 What actually matters is simple. Correct what needs to be addressed, prevent future damage, and support the skin long term. Skincare is not about reacting. It is about being proactive and intentional.
