Moments like these remind me why I’ve invested so many years—and so much money—into continuing education. Sometimes, the answer is simply thinking outside the box.

This patient came to me after multiple rounds of the same neurotoxin with little to no improvement. She had spent thousands of dollars over time being retreated with the same product, hoping for different results.

When she reached out, I told her, “I don’t want or need to know where you’ve been treated. I just want to know which neurotoxin has been used.” I don’t care who has treated you, I just care that we work together to figure out what the obstacle is and we problem solve it.

After hearing her history, I explained that one possibility was that she simply wasn’t responding well to that particular brand. My plan was simple: first, we (my med director and I) would dose her the way we felt was appropriate based on our assessment.. If we still didn’t achieve the results we were looking for, we would completely switch brands.

That’s exactly what we did.

Instead of continuing to repeat something that wasn’t working, we changed the approach—and she finally got the results she had been hoping for.

Now, this isn’t common, but it does happen. Some people respond differently to different neurotoxins. If I’ve worked through multiple brands and still can’t achieve results that meet my standards, I don’t continue treating just to keep treating.

Instead, I tell my patients to save their money.

I’ll usually recommend waiting 6–8 months before trying one final time. If there is still no response, we have an honest conversation that they are likely a true non-responder, and I don’t believe it’s ethical to continue asking them to invest in a treatment that isn’t benefiting them.

To the newer injectors out there, here’s my advice:

Follow your ethics—not the money.

If something isn’t working, don’t keep repeating the same treatment expecting a different outcome. Step back. Reevaluate. Learn. Grow.

Invest in your education. Don’t rely solely on the training your representative provides. Seek out educators who have experience with multiple products, different techniques, and a variety of patient outcomes. The more knowledge you have, the better you can serve your patients.

Knowledge truly is power.

I train on several neurotoxin brands and am not loyal to one company over another. I definitely have my favorites, but those are based on clinical experience, patient outcomes, and personal preference—not brand loyalty.

Our patients deserve providers who are committed to lifelong learning.

This sweet patient was concerned about the fine lines around her lips—often called “smoker’s lines.” Despite the name, you don’t have to be a smoker to develop them. As we age, collagen production naturally slows, causing the lip border to lose definition and allowing those vertical lines to become more noticeable.

For her treatment, I used a small amount of filler to restore the lip border and rebuild the support that had been lost over time. I also placed PDO Smooth Threads above the lip line to stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of those fine lines.

The result? A subtle, natural enhancement that restores structure without looking overdone.

I LOVE my private medspa space exactly the way it is. It was intentionally created to be discreet, comfortable, and personal for my patients. My micro medspa will NOT be moving to The Wellness House Studio, and I am not opening another medspa.

Been there, done that… and honestly, I’m in a different season of life now. Family time matters more to me than being stuck on a nonstop hamster wheel. I purposely keep my schedule small and intimate so I can continue loving what I do while still protecting my peace and my family.

People always tell me, “I thought you retired because you don’t advertise much.” 😂
Truthfully, I’ve just been incredibly blessed with loyal patients and word of mouth support over the years, and I’ll never take that for granted.
