✨ Front Porch Friday ☕🖤🌙
One thing about my salon…
It will never be just about hair. ✨
There’s a VERY high chance you’ll come in for a haircut and accidentally start having one of those deep, front porch kind of conversations in my chair. ☕😂🖤
And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Because somewhere along the way, this little salon became about so much more than hair. ✨
I have a client who is incredibly near and dear to my heart. 🖤 When she first came to me, she had been through some really hard salon experiences and struggled deeply with how thin and fine her hair had become.
Before her very first appointment, something in my heart just whispered:
✨ “Don’t book anyone after her… you’re gonna need the time.”
Y’all… What was supposed to be a haircut turned into FOUR HOURS. ☕😭😂
✨ Hair.
🖤 Talking.
😂 Laughing.
😭 Tears.
☀️ Encouragement.
✨ Confidence rebuilding.
☕ And maybe a tiny bit of accidental life coaching.
Fast forward to now…
She walks in smiling. 😊 Confident. ✨ Happy. 🖤
She pops in sometimes just to say hi or when life feels heavy and she just needs to talk… and somewhere along the way, she became family. ☕🖤
But… ✨ PLOT TWIST ✨
At one of the LOWEST points in MY own life… she reminded me why I do this.
And every time I thought about giving up, she would pop in and there was that little reminder of why I poured my heart and soul into this tiny cozy salon. 🖤✨
I never want this place to feel cold or intimidating.
I wanted women to feel SAFE and welcomed here. ☕🌙
✨ Safe to vent.
😂 Safe to laugh.
😭 Safe to cry.
💛 Safe to feel overwhelmed.
☕ Safe to say “I just don’t feel like myself lately.”
Safe to just be human. 🌙✨
A while back, she had family Christmas retakes coming up on a Sunday. 🎄
She was heartbroken over how thin her hair looked and just wanted to feel beautiful in those family photos. 😭🖤
So… We got to work. ✨
This hairstylist took hair extensions home on a Saturday night and stayed up sewing them onto Hair Velcro so she could have the little extra fullness she needed to LOVE those memories when she looked back at them. 😭🖤✨
Because sometimes it isn’t “just hair.”
✨ Sometimes confidence matters.
🖤 Sometimes feeling beautiful matters.
🌙 Sometimes feeling like yourself again matters.
And helping women feel safe and confident means everything to me. ☕✨
Maybe this sounds silly…
But every morning when I unlock this little salon, I tell her good morning. ☀️
And every evening before I leave?
I thank her and God. 🖤🙏
No lie!!!
These walls have held laughter, tears, healing, friendship, and stories that matter. ☕🌙✨
So if you’ve ever wondered what kind of place I hope this salon feels like…
It’s this:
A cozy little safe haven where you can show up exactly as you are. 🖤
✨ Messy bun.
✨ Gray roots.
✨ Heavy heart.
✨ All of it.
And we’ll figure it out together. ☕🖤✨
🖤 Tell me… what makes a place feel safe to YOU? ☕🌙
✨ Transformation Thursday ✨
Sometimes… the plan changes. 😂💛
This sweet client originally came to me with multiple dark bands throughout her hair, and we were taking the healthy hair, slow and steady route. One appointment at a time. Building trust. Making progress. Doing all the responsible hairstylist things 😇✨
THEN…
She showed me her dream wedding hair photo 👰♀️😭
And frienddddd…
It was VERY different than where we had been heading 😂
Cue us sitting down and having the REAL conversation.
Because here’s the thing.... I’m never gonna just say “Sure!” and wing it when it comes to your hair.
We talked.
We planned.
We discussed expectations.
We strategized.
We probably consumed emotional support snacks 😂
And then…
BAMMMMM 💥✨
In ONE veryyyyy long (9 hour 😮💨) appointment, we transformed those dark bands into this gorgeous coppery wedding hair dream 🍓🔥
And let me tell you…
Seeing HER smile when it was all done was worth...
every foil.
Every bowl of color.
Every minute.
THIS is why I love what I do.
Sometimes it’s not just hair…
It’s helping someone feel like the most beautiful version of themselves for one of the biggest moments of their life ✨
Moral of the story:
Don’t give up on your hair goals, friend. Sometimes you just need the right plan 💛
I didn’t grow up saying,
“I’m going to be a hairstylist someday.” ✂️
Honestly, I don’t think the idea really hit me until I was in my early 20s.
And even then… I didn’t exactly have the big cheerleading squad behind me yelling,
“YES GIRL, CHASE THAT DREAM!” 📣😂
It was more like life handed me a map with no GPS, no snacks, and a check engine light on. Very rude. 🚗💨
But looking back?
The dream was already there.
Quietly tapping me on the shoulder like,
“Hey ma’am… you gonna notice me or are we just gonna keep pretending?” 😏
Years ago, I remember driving by this little building in my hometown with my sister and saying,
“Someday, I’m going to have my own salon in that building.” 🏡✨
At the time, it probably sounded like one of those random little daydreams you say out loud and then keep driving.
But that dream stuck with me.
When I moved to Texas, I was actually planning to go to nursing school. 🩺
Because that felt practical.
Safe.
Responsible.
Very adult-ish of me.
Suspicious, honestly. 😂
Then Chris and a friend asked me something that changed everything:
“Why nursing… when it seems like your heart wants something else?”
Whew.
Rude of them to be right. 😅
Because my heart wanted cosmetology. ✂️💕
It wanted the creativity.
The connection.
The color bowls.
The transformations.
The “girl, we need to talk about these roots” moments. 👀
The chance to help women feel like themselves again.
So I chose it.
And the rest is history.
Becoming a hairstylist wasn’t just a career choice…
it was one of the best decisions I ever made. ❤️
Because behind every haircut, every color formula, every gray blending appointment, every consultation, and every “trust me, we’re not doing box dye today” conversation… 😆
There’s a woman in my chair who deserves to feel seen, cared for, listened to, and beautiful.
And that’s why I’m here.
Still thankful.
Still learning.
Still dreaming.
Still doing the damn thing. ✂️✨
If you’ve ever sat in my chair, laughed with me, cried with me, trusted me with your hair, or let me talk you out of a questionable bang decision…
Thank you for being part of this dream. 🫶😂

This story is so much more than horse racing. 🥹🏇✨
For 152 years, no woman had ever won the Kentucky Derby.
And then Cherie DeVaux walked in with the underdog horse Golden Tempo and made history. ❤️
I think a lot of us need reminder!
You are NEVER too old to chase something your heart still whispers about. ✨
Never too late to start over.
Never too late to learn something new.
Never too late to become the person you were meant to be.
Dreams do not expire because birthdays happen. 🌙
Sometimes all it takes is heart, determination, stubborn faith… and people around you who believe in you before the world does. 🤍
With it being National Teacher Day. 🍎✨, this makes it even more meaningful.
Because teachers do that every single day.
They encourage dreams.
They speak life into people.
They remind kids, and sometimes even exhausted adults, that they are capable of more than they think. ❤️
Be like Cherie DeVaux.
Keep showing up.
Keep believing.
Keep chasing the dream people said was impossible.
And be like the teachers who quietly help people believe in themselves enough to keep going. 👏✨
Today I am so thankful for the people who taught us, encouraged us, cheered for us, and reminded us not to quit when life got hard. 💕
Now excuse me while I cry over horse racing, inspirational women, and our hard working teachers. 💪😍🏆

🚨 Gray Hair PSA 🚨
If your beautiful white/gray hair has suddenly started looking a lil ✨vintage lace curtain yellow✨ 😭… there’s usually a culprit hiding in plain sight.
Gray hair is basically the white T-shirt of hair. It absorbs EVERYTHING. 🚿🔥🧴☀️
Possible offenders include:
💦 Hard water
🔥 Hot tools cooking the hair
🧴 Product buildup
☀️ Sun exposure
🚬 Smoking
💜 Too much purple shampoo
😵💫 Hormones & medication changes
And honestly… sometimes your shower water is out here acting like a hate crime against silver hair. 🙃
Before panic buying every purple shampoo at Sally’s:
✨ Clarify
✨ Remove mineral buildup
✨ Add moisture
✨ Lower the heat
Because sometimes your gray hair isn’t aging badly... it’s just exhausted from surviving adulthood in this economy. 😂
