I’ve received so many DMs from women sharing their own stories, experiences, and prayers. Please give me a little time as I try to respond to each of you. Just know that they mean more than you can imagine.

This is what this community has always been about women navigating life, sharing our stories, and reminding each other that we’re never alone. ❤️ Thank you for allowing me the space to celebrate while also holding space for grief.

The reality is… I almost didn’t make it.

After being at the convention center all morning, running on fumes from traveling the day before and getting almost no sleep, I was exhausted. I was running late, my friends had already left, and every part of me wanted to get a head start of the next event.

But a good friend Chinyere Acholonu | Fashion & Lifestyle Influencer reminded me why we were there in the first place: to work, to connect, and to be in the room.

So I found something to wear (yes i bought this kimono same day in the convention center😌) ,got dressed, left Maddy to relax at the hotel, and headed to the event solo.

I’m so glad I did.

One conversation led to another, and I had the opportunity to meet some incredible people in person. That’s the beauty of events like ESSENCE Festival of Culture . They put creators in rooms with the people behind the brands we dream of working with. The emails become real conversations. The names in your inbox become handshakes and introductions.

It’s a reminder that sometimes the biggest opportunities happen when you’re tired, uncomfortable, or tempted to sit one out.

Show up anyway. You never know who’s waiting to meet you. I shared this in my Stories, but I wanted it to live on my feed too as a reminder to all my ladies: keep showing up. Your next opportunity could be one conversation away. We got this. ✨

Although I’ve attended Essence Fest before, last year was my first time experiencing it as a creator, and it gave me a completely different perspective.

From creator events and brand activations to where to stay, what to pack, and making time to enjoy New Orleans, I learned so much that I wish I had known beforehand.

So if you’re heading to ESSENCE this year whether you’re attending as a creator or just going to experience the festival here are my biggest tips to help you make the most of your trip.

A few of my biggest takeaways:
✨ Arrive a day early if you can.
✨ Wear comfortable shoes.
✨ Leave room in your suitcase for all the goodies.
✨ Don’t be afraid to attend solo you’ll probably leave with new friends.

Most importantly, don’t compare your experience to anyone else’s. Every trip to Essence looks different, and that’s part of what makes it so special.
