Sunday Reflection ✨

I’ve spent most of my life working with hair—cutting it, coloring it, shaping it, and learning all the different things it can do.

And then I watch my 17-year-old daughter create.

She loves cosplay and wig styling, and this is a look she created for an anime convention. Crystals, pearls, barrettes, flowers, color… she sees possibilities in hair that I never really explored on my own mannequins.

And I love that.

As parents, we spend so much time thinking about what we’re teaching our children. But somewhere along the way, they begin teaching us, too.

They remind us to experiment. To play. To put things together simply because they make us happy. And sometimes, they show us a completely different way of looking at something we thought we already knew.

Maybe experience isn’t always about knowing more.

Sometimes it’s about being willing to look again—and see something familiar from a whole new angle. 🤍

There is always another angle! 🥰🤩

It’s all in the little details. 🌿

When I began creating The Reset, I knew I wanted it to feel like more than simply setting aside 30 or 60 minutes.

I wanted the entire experience to feel intentional — a chance to slow down, quiet some of the noise, and have a little time where nothing is being asked of you.

Aveda Comforting Tea is just one of those little details. A warm cup, a quiet moment, and an invitation to linger in that feeling of calm just a little longer. ☕️

Because sometimes self-care doesn’t have to be something big.

Sometimes it’s simply giving yourself permission to stop for a little while. 🤍

A quiet moment before a new week begins.

There is something powerful about a person who is comfortable simply being.

Not proving.
Not explaining.
Not rushing to become something more.

Just being present in who they are.

We often think empowerment has to be loud.

That strength looks like pushing forward, taking charge, or having all the answers.

But sometimes strength is quiet.

It's knowing when to stop.

It's choosing peace without feeling guilty for it.

It's letting go of the need to meet everyone else's expectations.

It's becoming comfortable enough with yourself that you no longer need the outside world to tell you who you should be.

There is beauty in that kind of stillness.

And freedom in realizing that you are allowed to simply be.

As you move into this new week, remember:
You don't have to prove your strength for it to exist.
Sometimes the quietest confidence is the most powerful of all.

There's something about the beginning of a new month that always feels like a little fresh start.

New month. New possibilities. And maybe even a new angle. 😉

Sometimes we think we need to see the whole picture before we know where we’re going.

But maybe we don’t.

I took this photo with my phone at an event, drawn to the layers of the wings, the softness of the flowers, and the way only a portion of it all fit into my frame.

Looking at it now, I think that’s what I like most about it.

It isn’t the whole picture.

And neither is today.

There are things we’re still figuring out. Things we haven’t seen yet. Pieces that haven’t fallen into place.

But an unfinished view can still be beautiful.

Maybe this week, instead of needing to know how everything turns out, we can simply pay attention to the part that’s in front of us.

The rest of the picture is still there — even when we can’t see it yet. 🤍

Okay, this could be dangerous… 😂✨

Color can create dimension and styling can bring everything together, but a great haircut is the foundation.

The angle, the weight, the movement, the texture—sometimes the smallest adjustment can completely change the way a haircut falls.

After all these years behind the chair, cutting is still one of my favorite parts of what I do. ❤️

She came in ready for a change. ✂️❤️

As a new client, she brought inspiration photos that gave me a really good idea of what she was drawn to—a shorter, textured bob and rich color with definite warm contrast.

And that's one of the reasons I love when clients bring inspiration photos.

Inspiration isn't duplication.

I’m not trying to make your hair an exact copy of someone else’s. I’m looking at the photo to understand what you love about it—the shape, the movement, the tone, the placement, the contrast—and then figuring out how to interpret those elements for your hair.

For her, she definitely wanted to SEE that contrast. ❤️

So we took off the length, created a shorter shape with movement, refreshed her color and added those warm ribbons throughout to stand out against the deeper base.

And what a difference. 😍

Same woman. Completely different hair.

Remaining open when it would be easier to close yourself off.

Allowing yourself to feel deeply without letting those feelings define you.

There is strength in softness.

This week, don't mistake your gentleness for weakness.

You can have boundaries and still have a tender heart.

You can protect your peace without losing the parts of yourself that make you *you*.
