I forgot to post this here.

I'm proud to announce that I have overflow donations from the .for.heroes project. I promised to donate the remainder to a covid relief program and have selected funded by Colin as the recipient.

From : Hundreds of years of structural racism is making Black and Brown communities more vulnerable to the coronavirus. Black and Brown people are more likely to be infected, less likely to be tested, less likely to be treated, and more likely to die from COVID-19.

“Time and again, a state or county releases racial data. Time and again, those numbers reveal a sizable racial disparity. Time and again, black Americans are overrepresented among the infected and dead. America’s newest infection seems to be mating with America’s original infection, reproducing not life, but death."

A little over a month ago I started a donation based project called Headbands for Heroes. With the incredibly generous support from the community I have created and shipped over 1,350 pieces of PPE and PPE accessories to essential workers, healthcare professionals and anyone in need. In a couple of weeks that number will reach over 2,000. Headbands and masks will have made their way from coast to coast in the US and to several international locations. I'm humbled to have helped so many people and I hope that this project has inspired others to utilize their skills to help those in need during these challenging times. One person CAN make a huge difference. This has been an exercise of personal growth and rising to the challenge of producing all of these pieces, with love, on my own.

As much as I want to continue this project I no longer have the capacity to do so. Donations have halted and I do not want to ask for any more than has already been given. Aside from this project I have a full time job, house and garden, furbabies, family and friends who need me and my dear 96 year old friend and neighbor to attend to. I too need some self care and therefore I have decided to put the needle and thread down.

By tomorrow morning I will no longer be accepting requests via the request form. All of the current requests that have been submitted will be fulfilled as soon as possible. If you need a headband or face covering and can afford to pay for one please let me know, as I have a LONG list of local sewists that I have been referring people to. If you can't afford one I will have some extras to donate and would be more than happy to help you. Send an email to [email protected].

I can not thank you enough for your support. This project started from love and I will leave it in that space. Helping others is one of my greatest joys and know I couldn't have pulled this off without you. My heart is full and grateful. THANK YOU for helping me help others.

Hey all! I am very low on elastic at this time. I have removed the option to request a Face covering with standard elastic bands from the request form. I'll do my best to fulfill the current requests. If I am unable to fulfill it I will email you directly with an estimated date of production.

I just dropped off 10 more shipments, which equals over 1,000 pieces shipped to date! That's 1,000 happy essential workers and people in need that have a hero headband and/or face covering.

I am crying happy tears. Every time I start to feel exhausted another request comes in and renews my energy. This is far from over, but I'm so humbled and happy to help those in need. THANK YOU for helping me help others.
