Attention Community Members & To Whom It May Concern:

Dear Jane’s Nails Clients, Community Members, Community of Chatham, and Locals,

Recently our business, Jane’s Nails, has been a victim of false accusations by members of the local community through a former employee. We would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest apology and concern to our clients for having to hear such distasteful news of our establishment. Regardless of being the victim of the situation we would like to take full responsibility for those who may have been affected. Our management team is working diligently to make sure such instances do not repeat itself.

For those who may have judged or accused our establishment, we respectfully ask not to jump to conclusions without being fully informed.

Our utmost priority at Jane’s Nails is to provide the best service possible to our customers by continuously encouraging Professionalism, Respect, and Empathy towards each other. We provide all necessary materials, training, and mentorship for all of our workers at no cost. Additionally, we have financially aided our team a total of $40,000 for the New Jersey Manicurist Certificate Education within the last quarter of 2023. We even started an employee of the month program to promote excellence with incentivizing rewards.

As management we see it as our duty to care, guide, and provide constructive criticism to our team for the betterment of the establishment; service, clients, employees, and etc. However, with all of our aid and investments we provided for our team, the former employee did not utilize the presented opportunities but was rather audacious when we tried to communicate customer feedback towards her performance. Not to mention it was our first time speaking to her about it. We were quite shocked when she said she quit and abruptly left the Nail Salon... It really took us by surprise when the rumors shortly followed.

We confidently state that...
We have NEVER treated her or anyone terribly or unjustly. We DID NOT fire her, she left on her own accord.
We DID NOT use racial slurs or berate her in any way.

We have proof on our security cameras.
We have witnesses from both our team and clients.

We understand people may become upset from time to time, but it is extremely hurtful to be attacked and bullied as a small business that really depends on the local community. Our team depends on this business for their livelihood, we also have families and children to provide for. Are the rest of us not worthy of any consideration; but worthy of insults and attacks on our decency/integrity as human beings?

As Asian-Americans on the management team, we moved to New Jersey due to Asian hate crimes during the pandemic in hopes of a safer environment. Fortunately, we are very grateful for the safe and beautiful towns New Jersey has to offer. However, as an American, it is deeply saddening to see our society resort to such negatively biased judgements, quickly condemning others with such accusations that usually end in “ist” or “ism”. It is more concerning that it has become a trend to a national level, from celebrities, individuals, and to businesses. Nonetheless, on a personal level we truly hope and pray that one day they realize we are only hurting ourselves, for judgment only leads to hate.

We may not have six thousand followers on a social media platform and this message may not even reach many. However, we believe the good always wins in the end. With our faith in the Good we will continue to put our best foot forward and strive to be the best establishment possible.

Lastly, we would like to truly, truly thank our team, and our loyal clients who have been supportive to us throughout this unfortunate situation. We dearly hope we are worthy of reconsideration or even forgiveness from the rest of the community. In conclusion, we wish to see this adversity be a moment of understanding and compassion for the betterment of the community.
