Our FREE Annual Barbershop, Backpack & Free haircut day was a HUGE success 💈🎒💙

From fresh cuts to brand-new backpacks filled with supplies, and so many smiles in between—it was truly a community celebration. We are beyond grateful for everyone who came out, volunteered, donated, or supported in any way.

Job shadowing, Madison Proximity Project!

Located in the heart of the neighborhood, it’s easy to see why people love Atwood Barbershop.

It’s a local hangout. The type of place where barbers have their clients’ go-to cuts memorized.

And the shop is packed at 9:30 a.m. on a weekday, despite being below zero outside.

But a busy shop didn’t stop owner Terry from talking with Officer Tieranie De la Rosa.

They’re the latest pairing in our special job shadow program, the Madison Proximity Project. The program has an officer spend a shift with a community member. In return, that person will go on a ride-along with the officer.

“This was a really unique opportunity. I loved meeting so many new people,” Tieranie said. “We had lot of open, honest and hard conversations.”

This is the first round of the Madison Proximity Project. All the current participants will share their takeaways of the program over dinner next month.

Gave out 150 food holiday baskets.
