Blonde? Rest in peace. 🪦
We officially entered our villain era.
My gorgeous friend came into the salon saying she wanted something different, so we completely deleted her blonde and cooked up this festival ready baby pink. She is officially ready to go break hearts on the Playa.🏜️
Drop a comment if we should make this a permanent look.
October is filling up faster than your excuses.
My calendar is almost entirely booked, and I won't have room to squeeze you in later. Stop procrastinating and claim your spot before someone else does.

Subverting the standard pixie. 🔥
I carved out this textured mixie (pixie-mullet hybrid) to give her natural wave a sharper, lived in edge. If you are looking for a short style with some actual attitude that doesn’t require a blowout to look cool, this is your sign to take the plunge.⛓️
Stop hiding behind boring cuts.

Let's be honest: Dealing with people is easily one of the most complex, demanding, and unavoidable parts of being alive especially the last 10 years and it will absolutely make or break your business.
You can't opt out of it. You can't outsource it.
You want to know how l've managed to stay in the game and run my own business for as long as I have? Especially as a woman in this space?
It's not just because I'm good at what I do technically. It's because I learned how to navigate the full, messy range of human behavior without letting it burn my business down.
Over the years, I've had to handle the exact same lineup you see everywhere:
• The difficult colleague.
• The completely unreasonable client.
• The family member who didn't get what I was building and complained I was never home and low key judged it.
And let's talk about the big one I see wrecking other companies: the boss or manager operating straight out of insecurity. I see so many businesses lose incredible talent because they have leaders who lack confidence and let their ego drive the ship.
Luckily, I don't have to deal with that in my own backyard but I see the damage it does out there every single day.
Surviving and thriving in business requires a hell of a lot more than professional competence. It takes emotional intelligence, tactical communication, and enough self-awareness to keep your own bu****it from making a tough situation worse.
l've lasted as a business owner because I invested in my people skills with the exact same seriousness I invested in my actual craft.
Anything worth building requires you to communicate, handle conflict, and bring people along with you. How well you do that is the exact ceiling on how far your business is actually going to go.
I've been doing this a long time, and l've seen it all.
Keeping it real Outlaws, 🐺

I’m so sorry, Darrell Auxier, but the court of public opinion has officially reached a verdict. You might have laid down the law in Jefferson County, but Lady is currently overruling your custody agreement every single day. ❌ She officially leaves the courthouse life behind to strut into Rusted Roots Hair Lounge, demands her mandatory daily cookie, and copies my style! The girl absolutely loves fashion, and she has impeccable taste. Just look at her rocking this rock ‘n’ roll denim jacket she’s literally starting to dress like me. 🔥
The case is officially closed, Darrell. She traded the legal world for the rock 'n' roll life. She’s a fashion icon now! 🍪😎🤘🐕

I genuinely don’t like who I become when the weather drops. Every single year, a switch flips, the seasonal mania takes over, and I completely lose my freaking mind over Halloween decor. It starts with "Oh, I’ll just put Sally on the wall." Cut to midnight, the shop has been closed for hours, and I’m standing out on the sidewalk in the dark like a total creepy girl, staring through the glass. I am losing actual sleep over whether the purple windowsill lighting is "competing with the aura" of the orange tree. It’s a sickness. I literally caught myself pausing mid haircut today, staring blankly past my client's head, whispering to myself about whether Zero’s nose was hitting the light wrong. And Steve rolls in and said Kim you look like a Raggedy Ann doll today. I said bro your a lucky man it’s you.🤣 That being said... the windows are going to look absolutely sick, especially when the sun goes down. Do me a favor and don't let my manic late night sidewalk staging go to waste. Drive past the shop tonight, check out the display, and tell me I'm doing a great job or give me a hug. And if you come in for an appointment this week and I am having a full blown, unhinged strategy meeting with Jack Skellington about cord management, just mind your business. Cause I’ve got the skills to do your hair. 😘 The spirits are moving me, and I’m not fixing my attitude until November well maybe June. 🕯️🖤💀

Behold: $187.40 worth of hair products. Yes, this tiny, unassuming cardboard box cost more than my weekly grocery bill. 💀And the best part? This isn't even the half of it. Some weeks at Rusted Roots Barber Styling Salon, I’m dropping $300 to $400 just on product. If inflation climbs any higher, we’re going to have to bring back the medieval bartering system and start trading sharp fades and hair colors for backyard chickens and livestock and I’m not above that! 🚜🐓😂The cost of goods right now is absolute madness, and a price adjustment is definitely on the horizon. But here is the deal: I refuse to cut corners. I only use top premium hair color, the absolute best tools, and highest quality products on your hair. Going cheaper compromises the health and integrity of your hair, and that is a line I will never cross. 🖤⚡
Real talk, where are my fellow small business owners at? What is the last invoice that made you want to cry in the comments? Let's group hug that s**t out.

Total hair metamorphosis.🔮
I dropped the base down to a moody dark brunette to make that blonde face-frame absolutely pop. No high maintenance upkeep her, just pure attitude and sharp lines. What a transformation.
