I’m officially in my third trimester 🥹 and I am both so excited and so not ready for baby Roth to come in a few months! Second trimester was truly a breeze, we went all over the place NYC, LA, GA, we went to a concert, brand trip, and ate a lot of great food. And baby boy was activeeee 😂
I was welcomed into the third trimester with one of the worst nights of sleep I’ve had. I know I need to be walking and doing all the things but yall I’m TIRED 😭😂 exhausted. I go home and all I want to do is veg on the couch and sleep. Thinking about the next few months is intimidating but I know it will all be worth it when I see his little face 😭😊
Anyways, hope yall had a great summer and that it was less hot than mine lol figured it was time for another update ;)
Also thank you everyone for all the messages and pieces of baby, health, registry advice and the clients who have bought the most thoughtful gifts 🥹🫶🏾 you guys are all so sweet! I feel truly so blessed.
Short curly cut for your inspo 😉
some people think that in order to get as much volume as possible, you have to cut your layers as short as possible. That is definitely not always the case sometimes cutting super short layers on curly hair can take away from the density of your hair, which can also take away from the visual volume, especially if you’re going for a “full” look.
I have had clients come in with layers on top of their head that I am unable to cut for months until they grow out long enough for us to get the shape that they’re going for. Of course this is all relative because some people love more of a non traditional wolf cut/shag look however that’s not always the case!
In order to get volume, you need to have layers yes, but you also need to have the right layers for your look and know how to style your hair to get volume. A flat style on hair with layers is still a flat style.
Ask me some questions about this if you have any below 🫶🏾
I used the leave in conditioner and gel from which is a small woman owned business based out of the uk! These products work so well on so many different curl types! I looove using them together. Her products even have braille on them 😭 so cute 🤍
Love yall and I’m trying to get these videos out when I can but this lil man is taking all my energy haha 🤰🏾
Ever wonder what those short frizzy pieces by your roots are? Is it new growth or breakage?
This is how to tell:
Usually new growth will appear consistently all over your head no matter where you part it it should be consistent and they should feel soft.
Breakage in the other hand usually will be concentrated in an area that gets more friction. It could be right by your part, it could be on your back hairline if you sleep with nothing on at night , or your hairline if you wear a lot of ponytails.
Have you ever wondered this before? Have any other questions?
As promised, the products I used on her hair were the leave in conditioner by Innersense Organic Beauty and the curl mousse from PATTERN
I’ve heard my fair share of people saying that they have been told that layers aren’t good for curly hair…..
Which doesn’t make sense for most people. You would need to get the right type of layers for your curls and density and goal shape but layers are almost always part of a great curly cut.
Getting enough weight taken off of the top of your head will allow the pieces on the very top (which tend to be looser on many people) to curl a lot more so that the layers are actually visible and not just “long layers” that you don’t end up seeing.
Enough of my mini class on layers lol anywaysss what are your thoughts on layers?? Do you always get them or are you scared? 👀
No one should be told this about their natural hair 🥺
Part 1 and 2 posted at the same time 🫶🏾
My client came in with extreme heat damage due to continuous heat styles. However she wanted to wear her hair curly. Most of the time this is not a 1 step process. Since her curls have learned to hold onto a straight texture for years, it will take time and effort to help her curls learn how to define and curl again. BUT there is hope for everyone’s hair! So my goal for this service was to get her to a shape that will allow her curls to curl more consistently in a shape she would feel confident in as well as allow her the freedom to style her hair differently if she chooses. Without sacrificing too much length because we’ve all had that happen before 🥺
This video was 10 minutes long (just the consultation) and all of it was so good so I’m going to have to make it two parts and I’ll put the whole thing (consult and reaction) up on my YouTube later this week!
She had been getting kind of conservative layers in the past, but since she was wanting a change, we decided on something a little more dramatic….. while keeping her length. We did face framing pieces and more layers. And then I styled her hair with one product…. Yes. Just one, I used a mousse by T H E D O U X ! You don’t NEED 15 products to style your hair, if you find the right one. Keep in mind please, I use a lot of brands and even mix them when I feel like it 🤭. Understanding your hair BEYOND your curl type is how to be confident with your product choices.
If you want me to send you the mousse I used on her hair comment PRODUCT, and if you want to learn in depth how to wash, style, choose products, etc for your hair I have a 60 page guide in my bio that’s on sale for a few days!
Either way as always, thank you for being here and please ask as many questions as you want in the comments below. I try and respond to them when I can 🥹🫶🏾 love yall byeeee
