Infection-Fighting Herbal Oil Recipe

Children who love to play in the dirt are more prone to reoccurring skin infections due to frequent exposure to bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus, which can enter through small cuts, scrapes, or insect bites. Strengthening the skins barrier with antibacterial herbal oils and supporting their immune system can prevent infections to take hold.

This antimicrobial herbal oil is a potent, natural alternative to over-the-counter antibiotic ointments. Infused with rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), thyme (Thymus vulgaris), and oregano (Origanum vulgare), it helps prevent infections, promotes wound healing, and supports overall skin health.

Ingredients:
3 cups organic olive oil (or another carrier oil like jojoba or sweet almond)
1/3 cup dried rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
1/3 cup dried thyme (Thymus vulgaris)
1/3 cup dried oregano (Origanum vulgare)

Instructions (Heat Infusion Method):
🔥 Heat-infusion is ideal for a quick, potent herbal oil extraction.

Prepare the Herbs:
Ensure your dried herbs are finely crumbled or chopped to maximize surface area for extraction.
If using fresh herbs, dry them completely before infusing to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

Combine Oil & Herbs:
In a double boiler, slow cooker, or heat-safe glass jar placed in a water bath, add the olive oil and herbs.
Stir to ensure all herbs are fully submerged in the oil.
Gently Heat the Oil:
Keep the temperature between 100°F-120°F (low and slow is key—do not overheat).
Let the oil infuse for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally.
If using a slow cooker, set it on the lowest setting and keep the lid slightly ajar to prevent condensation from dripping into the oil.

Strain the Oil

Store the Oil:
Label with the date and store in a cool, dark place for up to 1 year.

Apply topically 02/12/2025
