Scrub Oak Soaps

Good morning everyone! I know we've been quiet here for some time, but I'm dropping a note to let you all know that we're closing up our online shop and sales for the foreseeable future. Home life has been very busy for us and we are not able to put our focus on Scrub Oak Soaps as much as we wanted to. I'll add some updates here if/when things change, but for now we are going to put everything on hold until things settle down for us.

What we've been doing lately: enjoying the last days of summer. School starts on Wednesday and Evelyn is excited, but nervous. Myself, I'm very ready to have some time to work!

Facebook reminded me that, two years ago, I had time for sewing. I miss it! Maybe I'll be able to get the sewing machine back out after school starts... but I'm not going to hold my breath. 😉

We're back from our vacation, and it was a great time. No cell service, completely unplugged, just a week with family and fun. Now it's back to work! I have some fun things to share over the next few weeks. :)

A quick personal project, before we head out in the morning to go camping. It smells like piña colada. Yum!

You guys are in for a treat! By popular request, both Winnipesaukleen and Meredith Bay are now sugar scrubs! They're making their debut this weekend at and will be available on our web site soon, after we return from our family vacation.

Working on packing up some wholesale orders today! Then if I have time, I'll work on some new projects for as well. It's a busy week before we go camping in Maine! 😱

I know today's photo isn't soap, and I know I haven't been incredibly active on this page, but there's a reason for it and I feel the need to talk about it a little bit this morning.

For the past two years, I've been struggling pretty hard with depression. A cross-country move, a new home, meeting new people, a new job. Life has been moving at a whirlwind speed and I haven't been able to keep up.
It was compounded by the hormones that come after having a baby, which certainly didn't help things. In the span of a year, I gained about fifty pounds and even more stress. One of the many reasons I closed my storefront was to be able to focus on my physical health.

Now that summer is here, I'm trying to be more present in many things. Active with the kids, making memories they'll keep instead of running out the door on Saturday mornings because I have to get to work. Making conscious choices about healthy foods to nourish not just myself, but my family as well. This morning, the kids helped me prep a salmon pasta salad we're making for dinner tonight, making sure to sample the cucumbers and tomatoes for me.

I hope to share more soap things again in the near future. To be honest, I've barely gone into my soaping studio room in the past two months. I think I'm still processing the closing of the storefront and going in there reminds me of the good times I had in Meredith. For now, I'm focusing on making good times in my home. I'll be back in business soon.

We got to experience small town Memorial Day in the Hudson Valley this year. I used to do the same with my great grandma when I was a kid. Happy Memorial Day, don't forget to take a moment to remember those that have served. ❤️🇺🇲

For those of you interested in what I'm working on next. My hiatus is nearly over and my work space is finally settled and will be up and running again after the holiday weekend. :)

I know I haven't been very active around here, and hopefully that is going to change. I've been having to take a hiatus for the sake of both my mental and physical health. But I'm coming out on the other side of that, and I have some fun stuff to show for it. Here are some mock-ups of labels for our new signature line, coming soon! Inspired by some of the fiercest ladies in the galaxy, each soap will have its own unique look and aaaah-mazing fragrance. 😍 Keep your eyes peeled. We're hoping for a mid-June launch!
