So. Abs? Or no abs? Should we do them? Is engaging your core in every exercise adequate? Nope, definitely not enough! Ab work will not help you burn fat any more than any other exercises. But it will burn just as much as fat as any other exercise. Fat and muscle can live very comfortably together on the same body. Muscle likes stimulation, fat loves inactivity. Movement begets Movement! So, do abs AND teach your body how to burn fat as a fuel source and not eat up your lean mass. So, I keep hearing that we should eat like cavemen did. I've used the analogy many times myself with my clients. But now that I have time to ponder, I say why would we want to eat like cavemen? We're not cavemen. We are 21st century humans beings. Cavemen didn't have a very long lifespan. We do. They didn't have a billion food choices, we do. There was no need for exercise because every day was an exercise in survival. Therfore, let's start thinking about present human beings. The food choices we make today will have longlasting results on our future health. Obesity can creep up on you rather quickly leading to type 2 diabetes, hypertension high cholesterol and a myriad of other crap. The only way to combat this is to eat healthier and exercise daily. Even that isn't a guarantee, but it sure beats the alternative. Every little bit helps, from better food choices to exercising even a few minutes EVERY day that you live or on days that end in "Y".
