Owned and operated by Karen Flowers, Salon Flourish is located just blocks up from the beach in Manhattan Beach. Our intimate salon is your first step to feeling pampered and special. Whether you have come to see us for a haircut or a complete transformation, at Salon Flourish we want you to feel confident that we’ll make your styling transformation dreams come true. It’s your hair, your look, your style so we get it. We realize you need to trust the person behind the chair. We want to tell you more about us and our philosophy. Karen Flowers, isn’t just the founder, owner, and lead stylist she’s the staff trainer, educator, and mentor. Karen started assisting in salons when she was fifteen years old. Passionate and committed at a young age, Karen knew hair transformation and education were her life passions. Karen feels being a hair stylist is like catching up with your best friends all day sharing life lessons, new beauty tips, and life experiences. A third generation South Bay native, Karen attended Southern California Regional Occupational Center (S.C.R.O.C.) where she received her cosmetology certificate while attending high school. She became a licensed cosmetologist at Flavio's Beauty College. Before the age of 20, Karen was a business owner operating Elite Kit Company for six years where she instructed future cosmetologist preparing for their state board licensing test. With hundreds of students, she maintained a 98% pass rate. While she was an instructor, Karen assisted in full service salons learning and advancing until she was ready to work independently. While helping to open a salon she also volunteered at Torrance Unified School District teaching ambitious students learn a trade she loved. If that wasn’t enough, she also
Attended Los Angeles Harbor College and achieved her Associate Degree in Business Administration. Karen continues to reach her goals which include advancing in the latest hair techniques and education. She is one of 14 people in California to be certified in Nick Arrojo's American Wave Services and his amazing prestige hair painting classes. To enhance her balayage repertoire, she attended The Business of Balayage Advanced Certification workshop. She is also certified in Babe Extensions as well as Global Keratin Smoothing Systems. Karen believes that anything you’ve ever wanted to do to your hair is achievable. In early 2015, Karen opened the first Salon Flourish, a cozy, inviting space for friends, friends of friends, and new friends by her favorite spot- the beach! Karen’s dream to build a creative environment where she can share her techniques and enthusiasm is alive at Salon Flourish. She is committed to making you the priority and your visit flawless. Karen’s enthusiasm and passion for what she does is infectious. She may even talk you into a transformation you never dreamed.
