Actually getting started with regularly using the skincare products and implementing a routine is the part that trips up most people. I think the most important things are to keep the routine (atleast in the beginning) incredibly simple and then to apply some type of strategy that feels good to you and your daily routine but also reminds you to actually use said products. This can be as simple as keeping your products out on the counter so you can remember to use them, tying the routine to another daily habit such as brushing your teeth, or even having a neon sticky note on the bathroom mirror bullying you to do your skincare. 😂 Whatever it is, it needs to resonate with you and how you do things in your day to day. We are building a habit here, not trying to reinvent our whole daily routines. 💜
The fun stuff doesn't work if you don't do the basics. A basic skincare routine can literally be a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. You are already ahead of the game if this is all that you do. Removing the days buildup, replenishing the skin afterwards, and proper sun protection & spf will set you up for success everytime. Then once you are comfortable and that feels like 2nd nature, we can add in more targeted products and treatments.

I am loving these before and after pictures!
My amazing client and I are currently working through a Tretinoin purge. If you didn't know, Tretinoin is a prescription strength vitamin A derivative that you apply topically. It helps accelerate skin cell renewal and is primarily used to treat acne, reduce fine lines, and fade dark spots. It's considered the "gold standard" to treat these conditions because of the extensive research that's been done as well as the clinical evidence to support it.
When you start to apply Tret and your cell turnover rate increases, it brings up all the underlying congestion that is sitting under the surface. This leads to more breakouts and blackheads forming, hence the term "purging". This stage is different for everyone but can last up to 90 days. The reason it's such a long time period is because of the fact that it can take up to 90 days for a full cycle of cellular renewal.
This is where treatments can really come into play. You do have to take a short break on your Tretinoin before & after a professional treatment, but I think the benefits are well worth it. When you come in and work with an esthetician, we can provide treatments and advice to help guide you along and make the process so much smoother and usually get you there faster too. You don't have to second guess what is normal or what is working. You just trust the process and see the results! 💜✨️

The end of February marked my 5th year as an esthetician! It's absolutely wild how time flies by. It feels like yesterday I was just a baby estie, just learning the ropes and fighting to build. I would have never guessed that I would come this far in these 5 years. I am so appreciative of every client and every opportunity that has come into my life since I started !
I knew that I was starting a fullfilling career when I decided to become an esthetician. What I didn't know is how my clients would also become my family. 💜 No one tells you how you grow with the people coming to you for services. I have watched my clients get married, go through pregnancies, have deaths in the family, land work promotions, and so much more. I am so grateful for each and everyone of you.
