• Talk of the day: A horse that has shortened musculature on one side may have trouble bending the opposite way preventing them from getting the necessary longitudinal bend. The problem is not always on the side you may think!
• Longitudinal Bend: When a horse engages its hindquarters, raises its back and flexes at the poll.

LET'S TALK TEETH!!!
- You may be wondering, how can the teeth affect the body other than in the mouth. Horse's molars develop hooks making the teeth uneven causing constant rub and irritation. When it continues without getting them fixed it will begin to hurt the horse when they eat. They will then starts to maneuver the jaw differently causing a reduction of movement in the poll. Furthermore, it would limit the movement of the forelimbs. As you can see the problem can keep progressing on and on further down the body. So in often cases if I’m working on a horse and the poll is sore it could very well originate from the teeth! - DX2 Equine Sports Therapy

Question of the day! What is something you wish you knew about your horse's muscular system that could help you understand more about your equine athletes?
