NO WHEY____
"Impossible to do a detox clean eating plan with a whey protein shake - I don't care if they get the milk from the purest cows on an isolated island fed the purest grass and given the
cleanest water...whey is a byproduct of cheese manufacturing. Historically, whey was a throw away product or it was used to feed it to pigs as it was not suitable for human consumption - till someone figured out they could make money by selling it as a protein drink (tastes awful so they have to load it with tons of sugar or artificial sweeteners). Whey is extremely acidic and is infamous for causing intestinal toxemia, sub clinical inflammation (lactoglobulin) and if Splenda is added then 50% of the intestinal flora is killed - combining all factors gives a very unhealthy gut...80% of our immunity is found in the intestines. Then there is the biological fluid issue - same as blood or breast milk - must be treated at high enough temps to kill bacteria, which in turn renders the protein itself damaged. Also, the whey protein is absorbed too quickly into the blood stream that it overwhelms the vital organs....especially harmful to the kidneys - by introducing such a high protein load to the kidneys it is known to decrease kidney function.
