A cosmetologist who loves creating natural hair colors, flattering styles & making others feel confi

The owners at Epic Salon gave me this beautiful fall arrangement for my anniversary at Epic ❤️

9 years ago today, I made the best decision for my family, my clients and my career.

After lots of consideration, going through every different scenario, organization and lots of discussions with my husband, I decided to become self employed and go out on my own in the hair industry.

It was not a decision that was made swiftly or without thought. A lot was on the line and I was determined. It was something I thought about for a year before I made my move.

The years of working whatever hours or schedule it took to build up a clientele or managing different salon locations at my previous employer paid off.

I am grateful for my journey along the way to where I'm at now because I learned so much, built up confidence in what I'm capable of, was able to grow and met many of my clients throughout those years!

For 17 years I've made this my career (18 if you count cosmetology school). Half of those years have been at Epic now, and I'm so thankful for all of my clients who have come along for this journey with me 😘

In September of 2014, right before I left my old employer, I went to a Garth Brooks concert. When the song "The River" was being played this part of the song stood out to me (it still does!)
I knew I was making the right decision ❤️

"Too many times we stand aside
And let the tides slip away.

Till we put off till tomorrow
Has now become today

So don't you sit upon the shoreline
And say you're satisfied

Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide."

👑Invest In Your Hair, It Is The Crown You Never Take Off 😘👑

👑Use professional hair color
👑Use professional hair care products
👑Use low heat or no heat on the hair when possible
👑Shampoo with warm water BUT rinse out conditioner with cold water
👑 Always use a heat protectant when using heat on the hair
👑Trim off the split ends, even if you are growing your hair out - your hair will thank you

We had salon pictures yesterday and this wonderful lady was a hair model for me during her color and haircut appointment yesterday!

We like to keep her color natural looking by touching up her roots with a pretty brown shade and add some lowlights as needed.

She is beautiful inside and out ❤️

Salon Events are important to us

Moments where we can relax, put our feet up, and have a drink with a coworker

We do 2 events a year for our stylists

A holiday get together (after the holidays so it does not interfere)

And a summer potluck.

The holiday party is just us girls

The potluck we bring our families.

It is another way we bond and grow as a team.

And with this group of girls, there is never a dull moment!😍

I want to take a moment to say, that I get the privilege to meet some of the most kind, sincere people ever.

I look forward to my clients walking through that front door.

I look forward to seeing them, talking with them, listening to them, sharing with them and learning from them.

Sometimes the most intimate, real conversations can happen between a client and their hairdresser. We, as not only professional stylists but as just human beings, truly take that to heart.

Thank you for walking through that front door every single time. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for allowing me to brighten your day... and just so you know, you brighten my day, too. 💖

Are you in need of a serum as well as a heat protectant? Then this is the product for you!

💖The amika blockade has hair serum benefits that smooth away fly-a-ways and frizz as well as protect your hair up to 450 degrees of heat! Since majority of people don't need to use that high of heat, the hair will definitely be protected from the lower temperature that most use!

Tip: Remember, a little bit of a serum goes a long ways! It will last you a while! Start with 1 or 2 pumps, rub briefly in your hands, apply at the ends and work your way up, avoiding the roots. (I tend to run my hands through the back of the hair first quick with a serum then proceed to the front. This avoids getting too much product in the front of your hair, where most people have the least amount of hair)

💖AND of course it has that fabulous amika scent that always smells amazing 👏

This beautiful, young lady came in today with her natural hair color which was a very dark brown.

She wanted to brighten things up, yet keep herself natural and as a brunette. We wanted to liven it up a little bit!!

I did a blend of highlights all over. And we changed things up with her cut by creating some bangs and framing around the face 🥰

‼️My hair feels dry, my ends are splitting and feel damaged. What should I do❓

☑ First of all, cut off the damaged, split ends.

The split ends will only keep traveling up the hair strand.

So get rid of them sooner than later, so you don't have to cut off even more of your hair than you want down the road.

‼️To help with dry hair and to prevent damaging your hair:

☑Always, always use a blowdrying spray prior to blowdrying AND a heat protectant before using an iron on your hair.

I cannot stress this enough!!! You need a barrier between the heat and your hair.

☑Do not use HOT water on your hair. I know it's tempting! This can cause damage like a blowdryer or iron. (And fade your color much faster!)

☑Avoid pulling your hair up when wet, going to bed with wet hair and be gentle combing out wet hair.
Hair is most fragile when wet. Use a detangler.

☑Get regular trims and use good products that don't dry your hair out.

Talk with your stylist how often your hair needs cut to maintain healthy ends.

☑If you are someone that loves products and hairspray, clarify your hair twice a month to remove product build up. Followed by a moisturizing conditioner.

☑Be thoughtful in your frequency of changing your color back and forth from dark to blonde.

Listen to advice from your stylist when going blonder or lighter. If we suggest slowly lightening over time to maintain the integrity of your hair in order to get you lighter, please trust us.

Everyone's hair is different, so we will give advice according to your hair type, hair color history AND it's current condition.

We'd absolutely LOVE to get you from point A to point B in one appointment but that's not always realistic to keep your locks in healthy condition!!

☑ Products:
-Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner
-Detangler
-Heat protectants
-Serum

☑ Last tip:
Do not crank up your iron to the hottest temperature. Majority of peoples hair does not require that high of heat. Ask your stylist what they recommend for YOUR hair.

For reference: On my hair, I use my irons between 320 degrees to 360 degree, at the most!

Healthy Hair

Is yours?

I could get into all the technical terms learned but know it can be pretty visual

Does your hair detangle? Breakoff? Split? Do the ends look frizzy?

Healthy hair starts here.

Make an appointment.

Talk to your stylist about the changes needed to be made to get your hair on the right track.

And make your hair a priority, it is part of you, treat it like it is

Check out this fun color and cut on this beautiful lady!!

We clipper the underneath and leave her natural color underneath. Then do lots of bright highlights throughout the top!

It's perfect for this hot weather (or any time of year!). She absolutley rocks this look! 😃
