Stay hydrated and keep moving :)

I had an amazing morning at my first event this weekend, and I want to take a moment to say **thank you to everyone who continues to support me and my business.** Your encouragement, kind words, and willingness to learn about massage therapy mean more to me than you know. 💚

At my second event, I received a few comments that reminded me that there may still be some misconceptions about what Licensed Massage Therapy actually involves. Rather than take those comments personally, I thought it would be a good opportunity to educate.

**Licensed Massage Therapy is so much more than “rubbing on people.”**

When you receive a massage from a Licensed Massage Therapist, you’re receiving care from someone who has invested significant time, education, training, and hands-on practice into understanding the human body.

I didn’t simply learn how to massage. I completed **15 months of professional education, graduated with a 3.95 GPA, and passed my state board examination** to become a Licensed Massage Therapist.

Every technique, pressure change, movement, and area of focus has a purpose. Massage therapy education includes anatomy and physiology, muscles and fascia, contraindications, client assessment, communication, proper body mechanics, and professional ethics and standards.

**Even chair massage is performed with intention.**

Because chair massage at events is typically a shorter service, it may not include the same comprehensive assessment or individualized treatment planning that you would receive during a full-length table session. However, that does not mean the work is random or simply “rubbing on someone.”

As an LMT, I’m still paying attention to what I feel through my hands, listening to what my client communicates, considering pressure and positioning, and applying techniques I’ve been trained to perform safely and appropriately for the time available.

**My hands aren’t simply moving across someone’s body. I’m paying attention. I’m assessing within the scope of the session. I’m responding. And I’m working with intention.**

Massage therapy can be relaxing, but it can also be therapeutic. There is a difference between simply receiving a massage and receiving **professional massage therapy.**

So the next time you see a Licensed Massage Therapist at an event, in a studio, or working in the community, remember:

**We’re not “just rubbing on people.”
We are trained professionals working with knowledge, skill, intention, and care.** 🌿💚

Thank you to everyone who supports my work, asks questions, trusts me with their care, and recognizes the value of what we do.
