Walking into spring is a good time to reset your hair routine.
Winter tends to leave behind things most people don’t think about:
dryness, buildup, scalp imbalance, and rough ends.
Before buying a bunch of new products, it’s better to focus on the basics first:
• Reset buildup
• Support your scalp
• Trim damaged ends
• Add moisture where it’s actually needed
• Keep your routine simple and intentional
Most people don’t have a product problem.
They have a routine problem.
And the right routine depends on your hair type, scalp health, environment, and damage level.
That’s exactly what my virtual consultations are for.
If you want help figuring out what your hair actually needs going into spring, DM me SPRING RESET and I’ll send you the details.

If your hair still feels dry after conditioner… the conditioner probably isn’t the problem.
Most of the time it’s your ends.
If the ends are split, frayed, or just old damage hanging on, conditioner can only do so much. It might soften your hair for a few hours, but the dryness comes right back.
That’s usually a sign your hair needs a trim.
A good reset is about 2 inches off the ends, especially if it’s been a while.
After that, maintenance is simple.
½ inch every 3 months
or
1 inch every 6 months
That keeps the ends healthy while your hair continues to grow.
Then we look at the second issue… products.
The same routine will not work for everyone.
Your hair is different than your best friend’s hair. Different density. Different damage. Different needs.
Sometimes the shampoo is wrong.
Sometimes the conditioner isn’t strong enough.
Sometimes the hair just needs a finishing product like an oil.
One oil I personally love for dry ends is the K18 hair oil. It’s lightweight, smooths the ends, and helps protect the hair without making it greasy.
But the real fix is figuring out what your hair actually needs.
Because dry hair usually isn’t just one problem.
It’s usually routine + products + maintenance.
If your hair constantly feels dry, frizzy, or just won’t cooperate, it’s time to stop guessing.
Book a Maeven Gray virtual hair consultation and let’s figure out exactly what your hair needs.
I’ll break down your hair type, what products will actually work for you, and what routine will finally make your hair behave.
Because haircare should make sense. Not feel like trial and error.

Your hair isn’t “overloaded.”
It’s dirty.
Yes. I said it.
If your roots feel oily, flat, itchy, heavy, or stringy…
it’s time to wash your hair.
Not next week.
Not when TikTok says.
Not when you’re trying to “train it.”
When it feels dirty… wash it.
Your scalp is skin.
Would you leave sweat, oil, and product sitting on your face for 5–7 days?
No. You wouldn’t.
Most women need to wash 2–3 times a week.
Some need every other day.
Very few truly thrive at once a week.
The real problem isn’t washing too often.
It’s washing wrong.
Not scrubbing the scalp.
Not double cleansing.
Using the wrong shampoo.
Living on dry shampoo.
If your hair feels greasy by day 3, you don’t have a discipline problem.
You have a routine problem.
And that’s fixable.
DM me “wash” if you’re tired of guessing.

Be honest.
Are you guessing with your hair care products?
Buying something because it says ‘repair’ or ‘volume’ and hoping it works?
Most people aren’t using the wrong products.
They’re using the wrong products for their hair.
You don’t need another random bottle in your shower.
You need a routine that actually makes sense for your scalp, your texture, and your goals.
That’s what a virtual consultation is for.
Instead of playing guessing games and wasting money, let’s fix it properly.
March consults are open. DM me ‘MARCH’ and I’ll send the details.

I cut 7 inches off my hair.
Not because I had to.
Because I wanted healthy regrowth.
If you’re serious about growing your hair, you can’t ignore your scalp.
Something I’m changing right now:
I’m washing my hair 2–3 times a week.
A clean scalp is a healthy scalp.
But that doesn’t mean stripping it every day.
There’s a difference between cleansing and over-washing.
Healthy growth starts at the root. Not the ends.
I don’t care what anyone says.
Friday the 13th should be its own holiday.
The fact that it comes right before Valentine’s Day? Iconic.
While everyone’s getting ready for hearts and flowers, I’m over here fully committed to horror movie marathons.
These are my comfort movies.
Yes, I said comfort.
Dark, chaotic, slightly unhinged energy?
I love it.
Also… if your hair routine feels cursed lately, that’s a different kind of horror.
March virtual consults are opening soon. Just saying.

Your hair routine didn’t stop working.
Your hair changed.
Bodies change.
Hormones shift.
Stress changes.
Seasons change.
Scalps change.
If your hair feels dull, heavy, dry, or suddenly uncooperative, it’s not because you “did something wrong.”
The routine that worked before just isn’t meant for where your hair is now.
Hair care isn’t about rules or loyalty to products.
It’s about timing and paying attention.
If you want help adjusting your routine to what your hair actually needs right now, DM me “fix it.”

One thing I stopped doing to help my hair:
I stopped only washing it once a week.
For me, that wasn’t enough anymore.
So I’m stepping up to twice a week — and my hair is already responding.
That doesn’t mean everyone should do the same thing.
Some scalps are fine once a week.
Some need three times a week, depending on oil production, buildup, lifestyle, and routine.
Hair care isn’t a rulebook.
It’s listening.
If your scalp feels heavy, your ends feel dry, or your hair just isn’t cooperating, it might not need another product — it might need a different wash schedule.
