Pam Arvon Salon Ltd

As I prepare to close my shop at the end of the month, I want to share one of the many blessings of my career - the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people who became clients and, very often, friends.
We have laughed together and sometimes we cried. You’ve shared the joy of your engagements and weddings and anniversaries. I got to see pictures of your grand babies and watch them grow. We’ve shared hugs when people near and dear have passed on.
Sometimes I offered encouragement if you were down and sometimes – as some of you well know – I told you to buck up and get on with it! One day I should write a book about what a client and her stylist talk about. I don’t think anything was off limits! What fun we had! I will miss it and I will miss each of you.

When I opened Pam Arvon Ltd almost 20 years ago, I imagined working in my cute little shop five days a week, quitting early and heading through the door to my house for a glass of wine and quiet time with Manny. LOL! That never happened!
Before I knew it, I was packing a week’s worth of work in to three days. I could only make that work because of three wonderful women who provided assistance and kept the day moving: My dearest sister-wife Jackie, who always made me laugh or shake my head in exasperation; the beautiful Paige who stepped in when Jackie became ill and kept me going even when, sometimes, I wasn’t sure I wanted to; and the amazing Jennifer, who found herself behind the chair when an accident left me unable to do what I once could. She kept the shop open and gave me time to decide what I could do and what I wanted to do moving forward. They each have my heartfelt love and thanks.

If you are lucky in this life, you find a profession in which you can excel, one that gives you a sense of satisfaction and makes you eager to go to work every day. I've been that lucky for 48 years. Its been my pleasure to operate two salons in the area - Diamond Head and then Pam Arvon Ltd. Over the next several weeks, I'll be making posts here to share memories, thank people with whom I've worked over the years, and of course, thank the many clients who have been with me throughout. But for now, I need to announce that when we close for the Christmas holidays, the salon will close for good. It was a very hard decision, but the time is right. I hope to see you all before the holidays come and go.

This isn't melting chocolate chips in the microwave fudge, this is the REAL stuff!
