Her hair has an approximately 3A–3B mixed curl pattern, but in her before photo, much of that pattern was hidden by expansion, frizz and lack of curl grouping.

I started by establishing the perimeter with a small cut. That was followed by a clarifying cleanse, shampoo, mask and conditioner. Once her hair was properly prepped, I curl trained and defined her natural pattern. I then went back in to detail the haircut based on how her individual curls were falling.

This is extremely important because of the difference in her curl pattern.

One of my favorite things about working with textured hair is seeing what happens when you stop fighting the texture and start listening to it 😍😍
