Texture State answers what is the current state of the hair.

Within TDF, there are three Texture States™:

🌿 Natural – The hair is expressing its natural texture without permanent chemical alteration.

✨ Altered – The hair’s natural texture has been permanently changed through a chemical texture-altering service.

🔄 Transitioning – The hair contains more than one texture state as it moves from chemically altered hair back to natural hair.

Perceived Length is the length of your hair as it naturally exists.

Sometimes we’re evaluating product buildup instead of evaluating the hair.

Think about that.

A consultation is only as accurate as the condition of the hair being assessed.

If the hair is coated with weeks of oils, butters, styling products, silicones, waxes, or mineral deposits, what you’re observing may not be the hair’s true characteristics at all.
