Isn’t your character more important than your appearance?
I used to think that question settled it. Case closed. Vanity is vanity, whatever you call it.
Then a few people close to me called me out - not unkindly, just honestly - about what I do for a living. And it sent me on a real deep dive. Scripture. Prayer. Long conversations with my best friend, more than one of them over cocktails.
What I landed on surprised me: we were made for eternity. Death and decay were never the original plan - they entered the picture with sin, not with us. And somewhere in our DNA, we know it. That’s why the mirror still catches us off guard sometimes, even when we know better.
So how does caring for your skin, your hair, your health fit into any of that?
I wrote the whole thing out - the science, the Scripture, my own mother at 86 still showing up for herself - because I think a lot of women are quietly carrying the same tension I was.
