In 20+ years in this industry, one of my all-time favorite chapters was being the Director of Hair + Makeup for the Teen Music Theater of Oregon at the Craterian Theater. Those kids (now adults in their mid-to-late 20s 🤯) will always have my heart.

This weekend, one of my closest cast members-turned-friend, Kelsey, married her incredible husband, Jordan! 🥂✨

Kelsey wasn’t just a cast member — she was part of my world. She became Myles’ nanny, helped out with laundry at Lotus while she was in high school, and let me do crazy things to her hair for shows. Never complained about a wig, and even let me airbrush her green when she played an ogre in Shrek: The Musical. 💚😂

Her mom, Collette, became one of my dearest friends — the kind of friend who doesn’t leave your side even when you have your first seizure in public. The Tidball family truly feels like family.

This weekend was pure magic. I got to hug four of my favorite former cast members, catch up, and witness two people say “I do” in a room absolutely overflowing with love. I cried… a lot. 😭😂😭

There were hugs, laughter, and so much gratitude. These humans reminded me how art, connection, and love weave us together — long after the curtain falls. 🎭💫

This is why I love this industry! The people. The stories. The shared magic. So grateful — and so honored to have been included. 💛 I am SO PROUD of all these humans!

HAPPY 18th Birthday ! When I first put down that $600 deposit on a little 600 sqft space, I never could have envisioned what it would grow into: 4,000 sqft of creativity, connection, and community. It’s been years of expansion, setbacks, resilience, and rebuilding. There have been struggles and moments of doubt, but also incredible growth and a vision that unfolded into something beyond what I ever dreamed.

I’m endlessly grateful for every client who trusted me with their beauty, every artist who shared their gifts under this roof, and for my husband who poured his sweat and skill into creating the space with me. I’m thankful for our neighbors downtown, our landlords who believed in us, and the community that has embraced Lotus through every season of transformation.

This journey has been about more than hair—it’s about creating something that uplifts people, builds confidence, and nurtures connection. And after 18 years, I can honestly say we’re just getting started. 

Here’s to the struggles that shaped us, the growth that carried us, and the gratitude that keeps us grounded. Cheers to 18 years behind us and a future brighter than I ever could have envisioned.
