Officially 47!!! SO grateful for all the sweet birthday messages! I legit have the best humans, home, plants, dog, career, clients, Lotus Hair Body Soul.....there just isn't a day that I'm not incredibly grateful for this life.

I've never taken such excellent care of myself, emotionally and physically, as I have this last year. Finally figured out loving myself. Yesterday marked losing a total of 100lbs over 2 years. My knees have not seemed to noticed (bitches)...but I do, and I'm really fu***ng proud of it.

50 is coming in hot and fast.

POV: You get a few bad haircuts… and decide to become a hairstylist.

My childhood haircuts were basically a masterclass in what NOT to do with thick, textured hair. Somewhere between the mushroom cuts, triangle hair, and “just brush it out” era, I decided: Fine. I’ll do it myself.

PLANT LEAF DOWN!!! 😅 24 years ago I bought a $9 clearance plant while processing home loans in a cubicle (yes, that was me). Took it home the day I quit banking.

2005: we buy our first house. Five months later it burns down. Plant included. We board it up for six months fighting insurance.

Finally clearing the place out for teardown, there's a tiny white leaf poking out of the dirt. No light, soot everywhere, smells like a campfire. Repotted her, and 1.5 years later she's back in our kids' new bathroom. 1 foot tall. Then she just didn't stop. 19 years under the skylight Lotus Hair Body Soul, 16 feet tall! 

Last night her biggest leaf finally came down. But that's what growing things do, they let go of what they've outgrown to make room for what's next.

Sometimes a haircut doesn't go as planned...but that's what extensions are for! This client came to me with a choppy cut from another salon.
