Health & wellness items that I would buy 100x over. Things that help me sleep better, feel better + understand what my body is actually doing. 10/10.

I think we’ve made women believe there’s a “right” way to labor.
What position should I be in? Should I walk? Squat? Get in the tub? What can I do to help baby come down?
YES, 100%, there are absolutely times when I’ll suggest a position or movement based on what I’m seeing. That’s part of the work.
But sometimes we get so caught up in trying to do labor correctly that we forget how much of it is instinct.
One of my favorite things to witness in birth is the point where mama stops looking around the room for direction and starts responding to what her own body is telling her.
Sometimes my job is to suggest a position or encourage a change.
And sometimes my job is to recognize that she’s already doing exactly what she needs to be doing- and to let that lady be.

For those who have been around the block or two with me, you already know I’m including your kiddos 😂
Even as a student midwife, I was rarely charting alone. Somebody’s toddler was in my lap, another kid had claimed the cool measuring tape as their personal property, and everybody needed a turn holding the Doppler on mama’s belly.
Anddd I LOVE it
Heck, that’s how I ended up in this work. I grew up being included in pregnancy and birth. Nobody made it weird or treated it like something I couldn’t be around, it was just life.
And clearlyyyyy that stuck.
So yes, bring the whole crew. I’ve got jobs for everybody 🤪

You don’t have to control every outcome in life to be intentional about how you walk through it.
Surrender to each season. Stay informed. Move with intention.
P.s I’m a little more opinionated… should I keep going?😆

My encouragement is simple: don’t let fear dictate your postpartum. Too many first-time parents are scared into believing they can’t leave the house or have a life after they see that positive pregnancy test. Babies thrive on responsive caregiving, and many also adapt remarkably well to the rhythm of family life. You don’t have to become a prisoner to the nursery!!! Bring your baby into your life. Go to church. See your family. Grab coffee with a friend. Take the walk. Make the memories. Respect your baby’s needs while also remembering that you matter too. Your world doesn’t have to get smaller because your family got bigger.

Ari

I have a feeling this is going to be really good.
I’m oh so thankful for the things that the Lord is doing in this space. Looking forward to serving alongside you!
I spy with my little eye....a doula and a midwife sharing office space! I am so thrilled to have withlove__ari bunking with me. We have shared space many of times in the "birth room" and now we get to share professional space. I am looking forward to this labor of love journey with you, friend. More updates to come. 🥰

There’s a lost art in embracing the discomfort of growth.
Not all discomfort is a sign to run. Sometimes it’s a sign you’re evolving in the best way possible.
Lean into it. Stay curious. Stay awhile.
Stretch your neuro-frickin-plasticity. Pivot your perspective. And learn to appreciate the growing pains along the way.

This was such an exciting opportunity. I couldn’t wait to chat with Voyage Dallas !
Younger ari, heck… every version of me- is pretty proud of this one.
I’ve never really struggled with dreaming big. I’ve always believed that if the Lord places something on your heart, it’s worth pursuing wholeheartedly. And it turns out, betting on yourself and putting in the work isn’t the worst combination.
So here’s your reminder: quit waiting until you “feel ready.” Stop waiting for permission. Picture the kind of person you want to become, then start making decisions that version of you would make. Those small, faithful choices have a way of adding up.
If you’d like to get to know me a little better, the interview is linked in my bio.

Day in the life as a midwife, with -ish time stamps 😆
So often friends and family ask- “ari what the heck have you been up to?”
Candidly, it’s this!
My twenties are full of wild and sleepless nights,
But not in the normal twenty something year old type of way 🤪
It’s phone calls in the night
Playing a blend of rock n’ roll + worship music
Sipping probably on an aminolean or georgie with random snacks thrown into my bag.
To be a witness over and over again of the beauty of birth & then go and serve other families right after is something I simply would not trade.
Am I tired? Absolutely
Am I getting grey’s? … yeaaaah (I pull them out so it doesn’t count)
But this way of serving is beautiful.
Oh so fruitful to my soul.
And it is holy work.
I love this life & I love y’all

This may be a hot take, but you don’t have to want a home birth to also want midwifery care.
Crazy concept, innit😉 (I’ve actually never said that word out loud, but it felt perfect to throw in)
And this is coming from someone who clearly loves home birth.
My heart isn’t only in serving families who choose to birth at home. My heart is serving families exactly where they’re at.

Ari
