Beauty and Whiskey

The last two years were probably my lowest, mentally.

As I enter another trip around the Sun this week and I am completely redoing my business to reflect a more self care, luxury type of appointment, I like to take a look back to when things were good financially, mentally, physically, and businessly. Its a word. Trust me, Im a Scientist.

Story time. In 2022, I hit every financial goal I had set for my business since its inseption in 2016. Personal goals were getting checked off the list (Hello, New York 🍎) I was indulging in serious self care, , lost 60lbs and was really loving the new me! Amazing right? Yes. But then what?

I made the age old mistake of allowing my business plan to get changed by the excitment of others. The concept behind Beauty and Whiskey got lost in the evolution of staff and myself. Nobodies fault of course, just a lack of direction. I was asking "what do you want to do?" instead of "this is what were gonna do!"

The 60lbs I lost by the end of 2022 led to the conception of the most stubborn difficult baby, but after 7 years of trying were definetly blessed.

2023 not only gave us a second baby, rainbow baby, I guess but severe anxiety, depression, and agoraphobia. To the point where Hubbs had to quit his job so he could talk me into leaving the house to go to work. Don't get me wrong here, I love my job and every one of my clients but the idea of leaving the house was too overwhelming. I was going to lose everything I had worked for.

I had a very difficult pregnancy, because Im ancient, obviously. High blood pressure and all the fun things that go along with it.

We entered 2024 in survival mode, just trying to sleep whenever we could but still uncertain where my businesses were heading. We were day to day. And thats all I could offer anyone as my emotions and hormones were rebalancing.

Now as Im staring at 2025, (new year new me haha cue eyeroll🥴) Im excited for the possibilities that working in the beauty industry has to offer. It feels like starting over and Im not mad at it, it allows for growth and really taking my business and skillset to the next level.

I could say the best part of my job is the fabulous hair, but in all truth, it's the people and the relationships that are built.
