Coming from the girl who loves to share her life with others, I’ve been very quiet about something for almost two years now.
Todd and I have been doing IVF.
Many people probably wondered why I never talked about it. The truth is, I couldn’t bring myself to explain every appointment, setback, medication, disappointment, and hurdle. While I struggled in silence, there were many lonely tears, heartbreaks, and moments when I wanted to give up. This journey has been emotional, physical, and financial in ways I never imagined.
Most people assumed I didn’t want children, but no one ever asked. The truth is, I’ve always loved babies. Becoming a mom has always been something I’ve dreamed about.
Through it all, Todd has been my rock. He has been there for every appointment, every emotional breakdown, every victory, and every loss. We went through two egg retrievals, multiple procedures, and surgery, and were blessed with three PGT-tested embryos.
Our first transfer failed. Our second transfer worked, and we saw our baby’s heartbeat. Then, at a follow-up appointment, I heard the words no parent ever wants to hear: “I’m sorry, I don’t see a heartbeat anymore.”
My world stopped.
After months of healing, we were finally cleared for one last transfer. On March 19, we transferred our third and final embryo. I truly believe my grandparents and my dear friend Laurie were with me every step of the way.
And today, after everything, I can finally say:
We’re pregnant.
We aren’t sharing the gender just yet, but I am 15 weeks along, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
