☀️ EXTENSION SAFE SUNSCREENS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ☀️
If you wear hair extensions, your sunscreen matters more than you think.
Many traditional sunscreens contain ingredients that can cause extension hair to turn pink, peach, orange, or brassy, especially blonde, highlighted, gray, silver, and lighter extension colors.
The biggest culprit? Avobenzone, a common chemical sunscreen ingredient that reacts with minerals in water, sweat, and environmental exposure. Once that discoloration happens, it can be extremely difficult (and sometimes impossible) to remove from extension hair.
✨ To protect your investment, choose mineral-based sunscreens whenever possible. Mineral sunscreens use ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide and are generally considered the safest option for maintaining the color and integrity of your extensions.

Hush babes — if you’ve been tanning, laying out in the sun, or using self tanner… it may be time to pause your laser treatments for a little while
Here’s why 👇🏼
Laser hair removal works by targeting PIGMENT (melanin) in the hair follicle. The laser is designed to “see” color and deliver heat directly to the follicle to damage the hair growth cycle.
When your skin is tanned — whether from the sun or self tanner — your skin now has MORE pigment too. That means the laser can have a harder time distinguishing the hair from your skin, which increases the risk of side effects and unsafe treatments.
Some risks can include:
▫️ Burns or blistering
▫️ Hyperpigmentation (dark spots)
▫️ Hypopigmentation (light spots)
▫️ Increased skin sensitivity
▫️ Less effective treatments/results
And while we LOVE a summer glow, your skin’s safety will always come first at Hush ✨
If you’ve had recent sun exposure or self tanner, it is completely okay to postpone your appointment.
