This sweet new client came to me for the first time today after feeling like she wasn’t getting the consistency she wanted with her previous brow services. She had been seeing different providers and was ready to find someone who could really get to know her brows, her preferences, and what she ultimately wants to achieve.

Before we started, we talked through what she likes, what she doesn’t, and what our long-term goal is for her brows. One of the biggest things we noticed was the difference in fullness between the two sides.

And this is where I think brow shaping sometimes requires a little patience.

I could have removed more hair from the fuller brow to create greater symmetry today, but then we would be sacrificing healthy fullness without knowing yet what the other brow is capable of growing back.

Because this was my first time working with her brows, I don’t know how much hair has previously been removed from that less-full area or how much may still grow back. So instead, we preserved as much fullness as possible, used tint to create more visual balance, and were very intentional about what hair we removed.

Over the next several appointments, I’ll be watching that less-full brow closely and giving those areas the opportunity to grow before we decide what her final shape should be.

I’ve seen brows that clients thought would never grow back make some pretty incredible comebacks - they just need time, consistency, and someone willing to leave the tweezers alone 😂

Because the goal isn’t perfect symmetry at all costs.

A little peek at what I’ve been working on behind the scenes lately 👀

My website hadn’t had a real refresh since 2021, so along with the new branding for Natural Beauty & Brows, it was definitely time for an update. So much about my business has grown and evolved over the last few years, and I wanted my website to better reflect where Natural Beauty & Brows is today and where it’s headed

Taking on four pretty major projects for my business all at once sounded like a good idea at the time, but there’s a reason I’ve been working on all of these things behind the scenes for months.. there has been A LOT going on over here

There are still a few little tweaks I’m working on, but the refreshed website is officially up and running, and I’m so excited with how everything is coming together. It finally feels so much more aligned with my business and the experience I want to create for my clients 🫶🏼

Okay, I’m a little late talking about this collection, but it has quickly become one of my FAVORITE launches from Eminence!

When you see a shelf full of skincare, you probably just see… skincare 🧴

But there’s so much that happens behind the scenes before those products ever make it into your hands

For many small businesses carrying professional products, it starts long before the first product is sold

Depending on the brand, there can be applications, professional requirements, authorized retailer agreements + opening orders that cost thousands of dollars for a single line. There may also be ongoing purchasing minimums required to continue carrying the brand

Then there’s the inventory itself. Products are purchased before knowing exactly when they’ll sell, restocked throughout the year, shipped to the spa + kept on hand so they’re available when you need them

Even some of the smallest details happen behind the scenes. Those samples you take home? We don’t always get them for free either. Sometimes they’re purchased so you can try something before committing to the full size or have appropriate products to care for your skin after a treatment

And while skincare is my world, this is just one example of what shopping small can look like

It’s been a while since I’ve properly introduced myself around here, so hi 👋🏼

I’m Kali (Kay-Lee), the esthetician + owner behind Natural Beauty & Brows

I’m originally from a small farm town in Minnesota and, funny enough, I didn’t even know what an esthetician was until I was 21 😂

My journey into wellness started with massage. I became a licensed massage therapist in 2015 and around that time met one of my first mentors, who introduced me to esthetics. The moment I learned what an esthetician was, I knew that was what I wanted to do

She encouraged me to be intentional about my education, so I did a LOT of research. I found IMAj Institute in Scottsdale, talked to former students, and learned that the owner was also the head of Arizona’s State Board of Cosmetology at the time. And as a sunshine girl, Arizona was certainly a perk ☀️

So I spent 9 months saving, packed everything I could fit into my Jeep, and moved across the country to Arizona to pursue it

Still one of the best decisions I’ve ever made 🥹

I graduated in 2017, moved to Boise in 2018, and opened my first treatment room on December 1, 2019

Almost 7 years later, I’ve continued investing in my education, completed my nutrition certification, and in 2025 stepped into a role I never expected: teaching esthetics myself at Premiere Aesthetics Institute - a cool full-circle moment

Through all of it, the heart behind what I do has stayed simple

I believe beauty doesn’t have to mean changing everything about yourself. Great skincare should be individualized, intentional + backed by education. And some of the best results come from enhancing what’s already naturally yours

Counterfeit skincare is more common than you might think and it isn’t always easy to spot 👀

I’ve carried Eminence Organic Skin Care in my treatment room from the very beginning (almost seven years now), and there’s a reason I’m proud to be an Authorized Eminence Spa Partner.

When it comes to professional skincare, where you purchase your products matters.

Eminence recommends purchasing through an Authorized Spa Partner or another source they’ve specifically authorized. Products from unauthorized third-party sellers may be imitation, expired, damaged, improperly stored, or simply not what you think you’re purchasing.

And while I’m using Eminence as one example, this conversation applies to professional skincare as a whole. Other professional lines I carry have authorized distribution channels for a reason, too.

Seeing a recognizable brand on a major online marketplace does NOT automatically mean the seller, or the product, is authorized or authentic.

Price can be a clue, too. Authorized retailers are expected to follow brand pricing policies, which can include limits on how deeply products can be discounted. So if you see professional skincare being sold significantly below the price offered by the brand or its authorized retailers, it’s worth verifying the seller before purchasing.

In one investigation referenced by Eminence, 20 out of 47 beauty products purchased from third-party sellers were counterfeit - even though every seller had at least a 90% customer rating.

And counterfeit beauty products can be more than just a waste of money. Testing and seizures of counterfeit cosmetics have uncovered bacteria, human and animal f***l matter, and potentially dangerous substances including lead, arsenic, and mercury.

I don’t share this to scare you. I share it because I don’t think most consumers realize how important the source of their skincare actually is.

So next time you’re purchasing professional skincare online, don’t just ask:
“Is this the product I want?”

Also ask:
“Do I know where this product actually came from?”

Know your source. Know your skincare. 🫶🏼

That’s a message I received from someone after sharing these brows on my story.

The funny part? One of the reasons I shared them only on my story was because they didn’t feel “perfect” enough for me to post on my feed.

When I look back through years of my work, there is SO much I never shared for the same reason. Not because my clients weren’t happy - quite the opposite. They’re usually thrilled. But somehow, I can look at the same result they’re ecstatic about and immediately find something I could have done better.

I hold myself to an incredibly high standard, and social media can make that even harder.

We’re surrounded by “perfect” results online, but photos can be filtered or edited, redness removed, makeup added for crisp lines, and imperfections erased. It’s easy to start believing that is what real, untouched work should look like.

But that’s never been my style.

I want you to see real skin. Real brows. Real results.

I tell my clients all the time, “If only you could see yourself the way I see you.”

Maybe sometimes I need to take my own advice.

Because while I was looking at these brows and seeing every tiny detail I could have done differently, someone else looked at them and said:

These are my dream brows!

So here they are - a fresh brow lamination, wax + tint.

No editing. No filters. No redness removed. No makeup added. No perfect lighting or angles.

Just real skin, real brows, and real results. ✨

And maybe that’s another lesson in all of this:

If you’re thinking something kind about someone, say it.

You never know when someone you think must already know might need the reminder to see themselves, or something they’ve created, a little more like you do.
