I’m currently working on a custom marcasite pendant in copper, & my customer specifically requested something simple, minimal, stone-centered, & easy to wear with everyday clothes.

Ironically, designs like this can be some of the most challenging to execute.

When a piece is highly decorative, there are lots of opportunities to hide mechanics & add visual interest. With a minimalist design, every curve, every wrap, every line is visible. There’s very little room for error.

Honestly, that’s one reason I love creating both simple & highly complex pieces. They challenge completely different parts of my brain and push me to grow as an artist in different ways.
