🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Your Health Matters

Massage therapy can be a supportive part of self-care during and after cancer treatment, but safe, effective care begins with communication.

If you are living with cancer or have a history of cancer, please share your oncology history with your massage therapist before your session. This includes previous surgeries, lymph node removal, radiation, chemotherapy, current treatments, and any ongoing side effects.

💗 Why does this matter?

• Lymph node removal: Procedures such as sentinel lymph node biopsy or axillary lymph node dissection can affect lymphatic drainage and increase the risk of lymphedema. Your therapist needs to know your surgical history so pressure, positioning, and techniques can be appropriately adapted.

• Lymphedema and swelling: If you have existing or suspected lymphedema, your therapist can help determine whether massage is appropriate within their training and scope of practice. Specialized manual lymphatic drainage is different from traditional massage and may require additional training and coordination with your healthcare team.

• Treatment-related changes: Radiation, chemotherapy, surgery, and certain medications can affect skin integrity, sensation, bruising risk, fatigue, and tissue sensitivity. These factors may require modifications or postponing treatment.

• Surgical sites and medical considerations: Recent incisions, reconstruction, ports, radiation-treated areas, bone involvement, and other complications may require specific precautions or medical guidance before massage.

🌸 Your privacy matters, and so does your safety. Sharing this information is not about denying you care; it helps your massage therapist make informed decisions, adapt treatment, and recognize when referral or medical clearance is appropriate.

To answer the question: I offer therapeutic relaxation and focused bodywork to help you feel better—no fluff.

And no, I’m not a scam. I was simply with a client and unavailable to respond immediately.

When I’m working, my clients get my undivided attention, time, and respect. I’m not going to interrupt a session to answer my phone, and I’m perfectly okay with that.

For questions about my services, my website has a lot of information. You can also ask Google, AI, Facebook’s new Muse pocket assistant, or—my preferred option—submit a request through my booking portal and schedule a call with me. 😊

One boundary I’ve mentioned before:

If you don’t submit a formal request through my booking portal, your message may not receive a response.

For safety and professionalism, I prefer to establish a connection before arranging services. A number appearing in my call log doesn’t tell me who I’m communicating with or what they’re looking for.

I’m selective about who I work with, and that’s okay. I want my practice built on mutual respect, clear communication, trust, and genuine human connection.
