GLP-1 hair loss. Let’s talk about it. I have many clients on GLP-1s for weight loss. Unfortunately a common side effect of rapid weight loss known as TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM, this hair shedding occurs 3-6 months after beginning the med, or as early as 3 months. Although temporary it can last up to a year or more or until your weight stabilizes. Ways to manage this:
Increase protein, vit D, B12, iron & zinc.
Topical treatment: rogaine, hair growth shampoos such as VERB Density Peptide shampoo, using a rosemary water spray.
Your hair will also be more fragile and may limit the amount of color (chemical) services that you can get due to risk of breakage.
