Can we have a little heart-to-heart about the Hair Cuttery thing? 😂
Every now and then someone says:
“You’re so talented, but… you work at Hair Cuttery.” Or “I’d rather go to a higher end salon, I never been to a Hair Cuttery. I want someone with experience. ” 🤔
And I never know whether to laugh or be confused. 😂
Do y’all think a hair license self-destructs when a stylist decides to go with a corporate salon verses a private salon? 🤣💥

Salon ownership? Gone.
Teaching cosmetology students? Gone.
Advanced color knowledge? Gone.
Here’s the reality.
I’ve been doing hair for over 20 years. I moved to a new town and I’m starting over rebuilding my client list. ✂️❤️
I’ve owned two salons. One in South Florida 🌴 and one in North Florida 🌞.
I’ve taught future stylists as a substitute instructor and guest speaker at the cosmetology school.
I’ve built businesses from the ground up. 🏗️💪
Trust me, I’ve done the fancy salon thing.
And you know what I learned?
The fanciest thing about owning a salon is the bills. 😂
The rent is fancy. 💰
The insurance is fancy. 💳
The payroll is fancy. 📋
The stress is VERY fancy. 😵💫😂
These days, I’ve reached a point in life where I don’t want to be responsible for a building, a staff, inventory, bookkeeping, marketing, and whether someone remembered to order toilet paper. 🧻🤣
I want to do great hair. ✂️
That’s it.
I want to make people feel beautiful, collect my paycheck, enjoy my health insurance, and go home. 😊
Honestly, after being self employed for many years, company health insurance feels a little luxurious. 😂🙌

Not because I couldn’t own another salon.
Not because I lack experience.
