Yep. That’s what I named them. And no, I will not be taking questions at this time. 😂

This week’s Hippie Hue treat is a Brown Butter Apple C***r Spice Cookie—made with apple c***r cooked down into a sweet, concentrated syrup, nutty brown butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom & nutmeg, then rolled in sugar and powdered sugar before baking.

Basically, they taste like fall got a little tipsy, made some questionable decisions, and ended up in cookie form. 🍂🍎😂

They’re soft, chewy, warm, spicy, apple-y and SO damn good.

So if you’re in my chair this week, grab yourself a C***r House Hoe. And if you’re not in my chair this week… well, that sounds like poor planning on your part. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

It’s going to be a short little week in the studio! I’ll be behind the chair Monday & Tuesday only, and then I’ll be taking the rest of the week off while my dad recovers from hip replacement surgery. ❤️

So after Tuesday, I’ll be trading my shears and color bowls for daughter duty for a bit. 🥰

If you’re coming in Monday or Tuesday, I can’t wait to see you! And then Hippie Hue will be taking a little snooze while I spend some time helping Dad get back on his feet—quite literally. 😂

More lather does NOT mean cleaner hair. 🫧😱

I know, I know… there’s something deeply satisfying about getting your shampoo to foam up like a bubble bath. 😂 But all those suds aren’t actually what cleans your hair.

Your shampoo’s cleansing ingredients do the work — and how much it lathers can be affected by the formula, your water, and how much oil or product buildup is hanging out on your hair.

✨ Stylist tip: If your first shampoo barely lathers, don’t automatically pile on more shampoo. Rinse it out and shampoo a second time. You’ll often notice the second cleanse lathers much more easily because you’ve already removed some of that oil and buildup.

So remember:

MORE BUBBLES ≠ MORE CLEAN. 🫧

🍪🍂 HIPPIE HUE COOKIE OF THE WEEK: CRUMB & GET IT! 🍂🍪

Okay, y’all… we are officially leaning into cozy season at Hippie Hue Studio and I am NOT mad about it. 😂

This week’s cookie is a Cinnamon Coffee Cake Cookie — a big, soft cinnamon cookie filled with buttery brown-sugar streusel and finished with a vanilla glaze.

Basically, coffee cake and a cookie had a delicious little baby. 🤤

And paired with the new Hippie Hue fall-spiced coffee brewing in the studio?!

Hair. Cookies. Cozy coffee. Plants. Good music.

At this point I’m not entirely sure if I’m running a hair studio or a tiny weird café, but either way, CRUMB & GET IT. 😂☕🍪🌿

As always, cookies are waiting for you while you’re in my chair this week — and because we don’t gatekeep good cookies around here, here’s the recipe!

🍪 CRUMB & GET IT

Cinnamon Coffee Cake Cookies

FOR THE COOKIES
• 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
• 1¼ cups granulated sugar
• ¼ cup dark brown sugar
• 1 large egg, room temperature
• 1 large egg yolk, room temperature
• 1 Tbsp whole milk
• 2 tsp vanilla
• 2¾ cups all-purpose flour, spooned & leveled
• 1½ tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp cornstarch
• ¾ tsp salt
• ½ tsp baking soda

FOR THE STREUSEL
• ½ cup + 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
• ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
• 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• ⅛ tsp salt
• ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted & slightly cooled
• Splash of vanilla

FOR THE VANILLA GLAZE
• 1 cup powdered sugar
• Up to 2 Tbsp milk or heavy cream
• Pinch of salt
• ½ tsp vanilla

MAKE THE STREUSEL:
Whisk together flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon and salt. Stir in melted butter and vanilla until crumbly. Set aside.

MAKE THE COOKIE DOUGH:
Cream butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar for 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy.

Add egg, egg yolk, milk and vanilla and mix until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt and baking soda. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined.

SCOOP & FILL:
Scoop dough into 2 Tbsp portions and roll into balls. Place on a parchment-lined plate or tray.

Using the back of a lightly floured tablespoon, make an indentation in the center of each cookie. Fill each with about 2–3 tsp of streusel.

CHILL:
Refrigerate the filled cookies for 30–60 minutes.

BAKE:
Preheat oven to 350°F.

Place cookies a few inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake 6–8 cookies at a time for approximately 10 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers still look slightly underbaked.

As soon as they come out, use a round glass or biscuit cutter to gently scoot them into pretty circles.

Cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.

GLAZE:
Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, salt and enough milk or cream to make a thick, drizzle-able glaze. Drizzle over completely cooled cookies.

Then try not to eat four of them. 😂

✨ HAIR MYTH:
“It’s better to come to your color appointment with dirty hair.”

Okay… we need to talk about this one. 😂

You do NOT need to show up for your color appointment with a week’s worth of oil, dry shampoo, hairspray and whatever else your hair has collected along the way. 😬

Years ago, you may have heard that “dirty hair protects your scalp” during color — and while your natural oils can offer some protection, excessive oil and product buildup aren’t doing your color any favors.

For most color services, clean-ish, dry hair with minimal product is perfect. 🙌🏻

And please don’t scrub the ever-loving hell out of your scalp right before your appointment either. 😂 A freshly irritated scalp + hair color = NO THANK YOU.

So no, you don’t have to marinate your hair for five days before you come see me. 🤣

Clean-ish. Dry. Minimal product.

Okay, I have another little idea brewing for the studio… because apparently I cannot leave well enough alone. 😂

I want to create a Hippie Hue Community Bookshelf! 📖✨

So here’s where you come in:

If you have books sitting around that you’ve already read, don’t want anymore, or are just ready to pass along… bring them with you to your next appointment!

I’m going to put together a bookshelf here at the studio where anyone can:

📚 Take a book that catches their eye
🌿 Bring in books they’re ready to part with
📖 Read it, keep it, pass it along, or bring it back when they’re done

No checking books out. No due dates. No keeping track.

Just a cozy little take-a-book, leave-a-book situation where good books get new lives instead of collecting dust on a shelf. ❤️

Between the Hippie Hue Book Club, cookies, coffee, plants, good hair, and now a community bookshelf…

At this point I’m not entirely sure if I own a hair studio or the world’s tiniest weird little clubhouse. 😂✌🏻🌿
