Everyone needs a good hair mask. Whether it’s more often/less often, or hydrating/ repairing, a hair mask can transform your hair from lifeless dull hair to beautiful, bouncy, shiny hair.

What type of hair mask should you use? How often should you be using it? This can all vary depending on time of year, heat usage, environmental conditions, chemical services, product usage, hormones, etc. This is why it’s important to have a stylist that is knowledgeable in product lines & willing to tell you what your hair needs when you’re in for each appointment.

goldielocks clarifying shampoo.. what are the benefits?

•eliminates product buildup & removes discoloration from minerals in water- clarifying shampoos reach deep into your hair & scalp pulling out any impurities! it’s great for anyone that uses dry shampoo or washes less often, has hard water, or gets oily quickly.
•keeps scalp & hair healthy- the ph of goldielocks clarifying shampoo is 5.0-6.0 which is the most beneficial ph range for the health of your scalp & hair!

DISCLAIMER:
clarifying shampoos are detoxifying. this means they are not meant to be used every day. alternate it with your usual shampoo. I use mine every couple washes. the use will vary per person, but don’t worry, i’m here to help if you have any questions!

MY FAVS

I like to switch up my products often. I’m always looking for something better. These products have stayed in my hair routine longer than any other products. I would recommend them to most people as they are full of quality ingredients & have revived my lifeless hair- as well as many of my guests!

I’m available via email or at your appointments to go over my product recommendations for your hair. I also have links to make it easier for you to order!

Let’s get started on your healthy hair journey✨

washing less often.. this is the number one concern guests come in with. so how do you train your hair to go longer in between washes?

•clean your brushes regularly- your brush cleans your hair, so where do you think all the buildup from your hair is going? that’s right.. it’s getting in your brush! make sure you’re cleaning your hair brush about once a month
•use a clarifying shampoo every other shampoo- clarifying shampoos are something you want to be cautious with, but when we’re going longer in between washes & using a ton of dry shampoo, it’s necessary to use something to remove all the buildup. I recommend using the clarifying shampoo as it’s gentle yet effective!
•double cleanse if necessary- if you shampoo & you’re still feeling icky, it might be best to shampoo again. I typically shampoo my hair & then add more shampoo & start the shampoo process again to make sure everything’s clean after going 4-5 days between washes!
•blow dry your hair- drying your hair helps by soaking up oils & excess moisture. i like to blow dry everything on day 1 & each day after, i blow dry above the crown of my head to help distribute oils & dry shampoo. I really love to use my flexstyle auto wrap curlers & then clip in three rollers on the top of my head for volume.
•use dry shampoo at night or allow it to soak in for at least 5 mins before brushing- give your dry shampoo time to do it’s job! letting it soak up the oils can help so you’re not having to use as much or as often. this is also a great trick for my dark haired babes as less product or night applications can both give less of an ashy look.
•shampoo your roots/condition your ends- shampoo is made to glide through your ends only when you’re rinsing from your roots. conditioner is made to moisturize your ends. if you use conditioner at your roots, you’ll have an oily scalp right away. apply your conditioner at least 4 inches away from your scalp(depending on the condition of your hair & if you have fresh highlights)

what do you struggle with most when it comes to washing/not washing? try these tips out & you’ll see results pretty quickly!

What not to do with hair extensions⬇️

•Leave the top of your rows damp- This can cause the top of your wefts to swell resulting in a less flat installation & the extension hair falling out.
•Brushing improperly- This can cause breakage on both your hair & the extension hair. This can cause issues with the wefts, install, or even your scalp.
•Sleeping with your hair down or without a satin pillowcase- This can cause tangles & breakage on both your natural hair & extensions.

All of these can result in having to replace your wefts sooner than expected or possibly having to take a break from extensions until you’re ready to follow proper care instructions.

Your hair & scalp is important to me. Your investment is important to me.

Long story short, PLEASE protect your hair & scalp & protect your investment.

As a guest at Esterly, you’ll receive maintenance cards, an extension packet, & we’ll go over your care each time you’re in so we can troubleshoot & you can enjoy the best results! Head to my bio for more info ✨

What are you doing incorrectly when you use dry shampoo?

•you’re spraying the ends of your hair- when you apply dry shampoo, you want to make sure you’re only applying at the roots. Applying at the ends can cause dry ends & build up leading to breakage.

•you’re not allowing time for the dry shampoo to soak up oils before brushing- I like to put dry shampoo in at night or at least 5-10 minutes before brushing or styling. This allows time for the dry shampoo to do it’s job by soaking up oils.

•you’re spraying continuously(wasting product)- i recommend applying by targeting the area then pressing the applicator & letting go & then pressing again at another targeted area instead of holding your finger on the applicator & just spraying randomly. This ensures good coverage without wasting product.

PS may or may not have a product related to this post coming out soon. Stay tuned for more info 😉

When should you replace your wefts?

• when your ends feel dry or are tangling easily- is your hair seemly to tangle much more than normal? Are doing all the masks & oils but still feeling dry? It’s probably time to order new hair.

• when the color has faded beyond repair- coloring wefts can only do so much. If your hair is looking dull or too brassy, even after a color, I recommend ordering new hair.

• when the top of your wefts are swollen or looped- swollen or looped wefts can result in a less seamless installation, damage to your natural hair, or even hair loss. This is usually caused from brushing incorrectly or moisture sitting on the wefts for an extended period of time. New hair needs to be ordered if either of these issues are occurring.

• when you want or need to add more length- Has your natural hair grown past the length of your extensions? Are you wanting longer, thicker hair? This is an exciting reason to order new hair!

Hi everyone! I’ve noticed many new faces lately so thought an introduction would be fun!

I’m Paige.

I graduated from the Aveda Institute Madison in 2016. Since then, I’ve been inspired by weekly(sometimes even daily) continued education varying from business classes to my specialties, blonding & hair extensions. My favorite part of my job is being able to transform “blah” feeling hair into hair my guests fall in love with.

Here are some fun facts about my life out of the salon:

Coffee order: dirty hot chocolate or pretty much anything iced & strong
Tv show I’ve been into: it changes often, but I’ve been binging love island
Fav podcasts: anything true crime. I’m always looking for recommendations as I have a far drive to work!
Family: I’m super close with my family. My parents have been a HUGE help and inspiration with my salon as they own a small construction company. I have one brother, Gavin, and who’s my Irish twin- I’m older & better. 😂 I’m obsessed with my cat Benji- he also goes by nugget, chicken, & other random names we make up for him. I’m head over heels for my boyfriend, Ryan, who likes to get me out of my comfort zone by doing outdoorsy things that involve being cold & getting dirty. Be prepared to hear about all of our new adventures when you’re in for your appointment!
Food: I’m not picky(except when I am) I love Sugar River Pizza, a good steakhouse, & pretty much any Mexican restaurant. I enjoy trying new food, especially while on vacation. It’s safe to say I could find something to eat almost anywhere!
My goal for the year: find a good work/life balance & grow my business even more!

Are you noticing your hair isn’t holding a style? Here are some options to help you go longer in between washes!

1. Braid your hair at night!
Braiding is not only great for keeping your hair tangle free at night, it can also help keep your style in tact. The braids help give a beach wave look & there are various braiding techniques you can use to achieve many different styles. It’s also a huge life saver in the morning when you’d rather be sleeping in!

2. Curl with a smaller iron!
Bigger curls fall quicker. Gravity definitely likes to work against us when it comes to our hair, but using a 1 inch iron vs a 2+ inch iron can help your hair stay in place much longer.

3. Use a light hold hairspray & dry shampoo!
Adding texture to your hair is great for extending the length of your style. I like to think of products as slippy or grippy. Slippy meaning lotiony or oily products & grippy meaning sticky or powdery products. We definitely need more grip when trying to get the most out of a style!
