RE-OPENING News

Hello:

I hope this email finds you well & ready for the Holidays. As most of you know (due to schedule changes) I have been out of the salon pretty much since early November. I'm excited that I'll be back, behind the chair at B.SUITE on Wednesday January 18th. Scheduling online can be booked up to 4 months out, so get your 2023 calendars ready and filled! You can also reach out to me if you prefer.

Some hours have changed. I've taken a lot of things into consideration and have made the hard decision to no longer work evening hours. I want to soak up as much time with my kids as I can. I know this may be a tipping point for some of you who can't accommodate daytime appointments, I understand. But if you're flexible, book me on a lunch hour or on a day with your dentist/doc/personal day 🙂 I truly hope to see you all again soon, I've missed my people.

Appointment/Menu Changes
I will no longer be booking "kids cuts"
Haircuts will be as follows:
Clipper Cut 30min $40
Short/Medium Cut 45min $55

Please schedule appointments for the length your hair currently is, prior to receiving a service. ex: if you have hair that can fit into a ponytail but you'd like a crew cut/clipper cut, book the short/medium cut. Please message me or make a note if you have extra thick or long hair so I can schedule extra time.

What's been going on
*Trigger Warning, loss of a parent/ cancer (at least I get triggered writing this)

For those of you that don't know, we found out October 28th that my Dad had metastatic cancer in 3 organs. He was admitted to the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans' Hospital on Nov 1st. After further exploration they diagnosed him with pancreatic cancer, at that point I had no idea that it was almost always terminal. The oncologist originally anticipated a 12-18 month life expectancy and a goal to start chemo ASAP. But my dad's physical strength had continued to diminish very rapidly. They changed course on Nov 15th and decided it was best to transfer him to short term hospice in the VA here in Madison. This is for patients with less than 2 month to live. From that point on I was bedside almost all hours of the daytime and some evening. The bittersweetness of this circumstance is I got to tell my Dad goodbye and pump him with all the amazingness he did and was to so many people. The last night he was with us I made a trip back in knowing we were near and I drank some wine and made his room as comfortable as I could and told him i had all his personal affairs in order(which I didn't, but I knew he needed to hear that) and he didn't have to worry about any of that anymore. He thanked me and we said I love you. He passed early that next morning, Thanksgiving morning. I never imagined what this loss would/could feel like. I'm in a new club of pain, that's for sure. Trust me, I'm going to be ok, but whoa! If you're still reading this I want to thank you for your grace in allowing me some time and space to be with family, my Dad those last special days, and time to get his estate and ceremonies in order. There is a Celebration of Life in January.

I have sooooo many good things to say about the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans' Hospital. We were in 4 different departments and every single one had the best care ever. Even down to the food services and custodial. Hospice was out of this world. They did a Soldier's Last Salute on Thanksgiving morning. We were so lucky to have had their services and care, we'll never forget!

With all that heaviness I want to leave you with this, and I truly hope you have light all around you coming into 2023. "Death is sad, death is painful. And death is a reminder to live fully." Let's make 2023 the best f'ing year ever!
