To achieve this look I glazed her roots 5-00/6-0 and balayaged her money piece and ends. Didn’t even have to tone- just glazed with clear. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. My lovely client also did a hard water treatment before her appointment to help me out.

I ❤️ being a millennial hairdresser. We had to do the worst ombrés and patchy balayages until we finally figured it out and now you couldn’t pry that technique out of my cold dead hands. It comes in handy to achieve so many different looks.

It’s been over a month and I’m really settled in. I’ve gotten the hang of the security system, made some new friends and am getting used to this new rhythm of life. I’m so happy with my change and have been really enjoying having my clients in my new space. I especially like how quick it is to clean up at the end of the day! I also am really enjoying the few quiet moments I get in between clients to reset. I’m excited to see what this new space brings me. I have some ideas of course but I’m letting myself just focus on slowing down and enjoying time with my clients. Change is good ✨

Nope- not an April fools joke. Hummingbird Studio in Pine Island will be closing at the end of the month. After 6 wonderful years, it’s time to end on a high note and pivot. While our salon is growing, we have incredible clients, work well together, have served the community and continued to turn a profit year over year, my heart is no longer in growing a salon. My time and energy needs to be spent with my children and husband. I have considered this for over a year but continued to push through, using coaches, praying a lot, talking to other salon owners and crying to my husband at least once a week. I live my life from my heart. If you know me, you know that I put everything I have into whatever I am doing. However, this just isn’t right for me or my soul anymore. I will miss our salon, working with my friends and meeting new people but it’s time for my next chapter. I will be moving on independently to my own suite in Middletown continuing to operate under the Hummingbird Studio name (because who knows how I’ll feel in 5 years)

My shift in perspective and priorities has also opened my coworkers eyes.

Kennedy and Payton would love to continue learning and growing their careers. They have been incredible to work with and train. Always showing up dressed cool, on time, ready to go. Ready to learn and contribute. I can not recommend them enough. Any new employer would be lucky to have them and stupid not to hire them.

Kathryn is deciding where she also would like to focus her energy. The demands of an almost teenager and five year old are challenging and she feels the same split that I feel. More updates to come…

Joni has also decided that her heart has always been where her girls are and wants to relocate to be closer to them. She will continue to take her clients until the end of the month and we will be contacting any clients after that to change their appointments/ recommend new stylists for them.

Heidi has been focused on systemizing and improving the beauty school that she is the director of. She will also be taking clients through the end of the month while she figures out her next move.
