I donât care if the photographer shows up earlier than originally planned - if they want to grab detail shots, getting ready shots, etc, thatâs fine by me.
BUT if they start looking at the time constantly [in front of the client], taking the client physically out of my chair to go somewhere while Iâm still working on them, and making it seem like weâre the hold up when they arrived extra early and weâre still running on time - thatâs not cool.
Wedding vendors need to work together. I always say that as hair and makeup artists, we are the first vendor who kicks off a wedding day and I have so much respect for ensuring we arenât the reason the other vendors time is sacrificed and the important details the client carefully planned arenât missed.
I just ask for the same respect in return. Weâll always provide a buffer between our hair and makeup ready time and the first look/ceremony/travel time - whichever applies to that wedding. Letâs work together, respect the time and care that goes into each otherâs craft, and remember at the end of the day itâs about the clientâs satisfaction with BOTH of us! đ
Youâd think because I work in the industry Iâm on top of my hair careâŚtruth is I get haircuts once, maaaaaybe twice a year. At least I keep it simple! đ

We see a lot of engagement sessions that take place on beaches, in gardens, and at Hartford City HallâŚbut have you ever seen one taken in a library?! đ

The give away youâve hired a makeup artist who stays booked and busy?!

Iâve seen this trend recently of making sure you donât have makeup products that have hit pan in your kit to look âmore professional.â
Not only does this sound super wasteful, but I actually disagree - I think it looks more like youâre a working makeup artist when your products donât all look brand new and untouched! Thatâs the natural progression of makeup products after lots of brush strokes and swipes.
Where do you land on this?⤾ď¸
As a pro, are you team keep eveything looking brand new or looking like youâve used it on tons of clients? NOTE: there is a difference between heavily loved products and dirty, filthy, unkept products!!
As a client, what are your thoughts? Do you like seeing products that are in heavy rotation? Or do you hope to see products in pristine condition?
