Today we honor the strength, resilience, and sacrifice of our ancestors who endured unimaginable hardships so that future generations could walk in greater freedom. On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned they were free โฆmore than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
We celebrate liberty, reflect on our history, and give thanks to God for His grace, mercy, and faithfulness through every generation. May we continue to walk in freedom, peace, purpose, and unity while honoring those who paved the way.
