IDK WHO NEEDS TO SEE THIS. 🙊 This feels really relevant right now. “WHY ARE YOU SO EXPENSIVE?” 😶‍🌫️ Sadly we’ve probably all experienced someone (not very nicely) bringing up: the dreaded conversation about WHY our prices are our prices. 🤷🏻‍♀️ One thing I’ve learned as a salon owner - the people who truly see your value will never question your pricing. ❤️‍🔥 Now don’t get me wrong… some of my loyal clients occasionally bring up pricing in a respectful way to ask if we can make adjustments to our color plan to accommodate their budget. (Times are tough yall 😅) Which I will ALWAYS do! 🙌🏼 (Maybe instead of a full blonding service, we may need to just pop some foils in around the face and tip out the ends - my client is happy with their color and stayed within their budget.) 🫶🏼 BUT then there are the people (normally new clients or people who have/will never sit in your chair) that disrespect you and your pricing by saying things like this. 👆🏻 I respond to people like this by respectfully saying: “I’m sorry to hear that what I offer is not within your budget at this time” ❤️‍🔥✌🏼 And if someone still needs a breakdown of why exactly we charge what we charge… tell them this is what goes into each service’s cost: 🫣💰 • hours of tedious labor • multiple ounces of bleach or color • multiple ounces of developer • foils • clips, combs, etc. • hot water • premium care & styling products • blow dryers, hot tools, etc. • electricity • salon rent • salon maintenance • garbage removal • cleaning products • insurance fees • licensure fees • accounting fees • marketing costs • our years of experience • countless hours of continued education • being a super talented stylist that is in super high demand 🤷🏻‍♀️ and after all that, we still need to make enough money to pay ourselves whatever’s left so we can MAYBE afford: • time off when we’re sick/injured • a vacation • car payment + personal bills • rent / mortgage • emergency fund • any kind of savings • or just a nice life in general??? 🫠 follow @hairbyrachelsage for more behind the chair content #behindthechair #haircolorist #servicepricing #hairprices #salonlife #selflove #businesswoman
