Ever scratched your head over the difference between bodywork and massage therapy? You’re not alone! These two terms bounce around a lot in conversations about physical wellness and holistic health.

MASSAGE:

Massage therapy can both offer profound cognitive benefits. Massage can help reduce stress, enhance mood, and improve focus and mental clarity. With its broader, more holistic approach, focuses on the inherent connection between mind and body. It can often help individuals become more mindful, supporting emotional balance and mental well-being.
Having time to unwind, let go, and finally remove yourself from stress/anxiety and other stresses can be very powerful. This kind of session may not be a time to ask me to remove that muscle knot, or deep tissue, or spend time on an injury.

BODYWORK:

Bodywork is defined as "a general term for therapeutic "

Anyone who knows the work that I do knows it can be relaxing, but usually requires very good communication with my client and is usually "not" spent in silence.

I need to ask my client about pressures, the history of their injury, what the client has done that helped vs didn't help before coming to a session with me, ask the client about medications, ask the client to maybe move their arm or leg for me while I assist them with stretching, etc. One of the most important questions I ask the client would be if what I am doing provides them relief so that we are progressing with our session. We set goals together for each session in the hope of improving pain, mobility, sleep, and enjoying the life they had before.

For that reason, I tend to use the word "bodywork" in place of "massage" so that you can have a little better understanding of what to expect when you receive a session from me. I want to be as accurate as possible (within a limited amount of words) so that you do not show up to my office and are disappointed that I won't be doing a traditional relaxation massage.

I love pugs and I have a "Pugapoo" (as if that isn't foo foo enough for you.🤣) She is part pug and part poodle. My gal is 15 years old and one of the best dogs I've ever had.

Why am I talking about this? Well, for one, she certainly helps my family and me manage our stress, we love her big smile and the way she wags her tail when we come home, and her wheezing snore is the best when you need to get a good night's rest! This is why we named her "WEEZIE."
