I hope you will take a minute to read this. Today and tomorrow I’m managing this salon for two people who have become dear friends. I was their first customer when they opened the doors to their dream 20 years ago. I fell in love with them and the amazing service provided. Meticulous attention to detail. English as a second language made it challenging for a social media presence, so I set up a Facebook site for them, which I manage to this day. I assisted them in obtaining a liquor license so they could offer champagne to customers. And this salon has THRIVED. Helen and Bill immigrated here with Helen’s parents decades ago from Vietnam No one spoke English. In fact, Helen’s mother waited 20 years to obtain her citizenship, because after you have been in this country 20 years, you may take the test in your native language! Over the past decades, their family has patiently endured the process of legal immigration. During COVID, Helen’s brother was already here but his wife and children were delayed for two years due to visa restrictions per Covid. Helens brother now works here as well. This family is a shining example of how to do things the right way to become an American citizen! Helen and Bill (Huang and Yem) are taking their first vacation in over 25 years. They work side by side 7 day a week. They are visiting their brilliant son in New York City, who is working his internship as a student at UNC Chapel Hill. This is what America is all about! Come see us! Celebrate legal processes, even when it is daunting!
