I love a good arial view of neatly placed lash extensions 🥹✨

Proper application and isolation is such an important part of lashing that definitely comes with time, and experience.

As a client, it’s imperative to know that having lashes should neverrrr cause discomfort or pain! Some factors that could be causing your discomfort are ⬇️

•Improper application - Lashes that aren’t placed in the right direction of the natural lash or are applied too close / too far from the lash line. This can cause lifting of the base of the extension and may feel like a “stabby” feeling when the eyes are open / blinking; especially if the extension is applied too close to the lash line / on the eyelid (which should never be happening) If the extension is too far from the lash line, you may experience a “pinching” feeling due to the natural lash being weighted down.

•Improper isolation - Lash extensions should be applied on a 1:1 ratio. Meaning 1 lash extension, to 1 natural lash. Isolation is the process of separating the natural lashes prior to placing an extension. If lashes are poorly isolated, they are often being glued together and as they grow, the lashes will start tugging on one another since lashes grow in different cycles. This can feel like a pulling or sharp feeling especially when blinking. Overtime this can cause permanent damage to the natural lashes.

•Lash allergy - Often times our first encounter with extensions can lead to an allergic reaction. Your lash tech should definitely be asking you in depth questions to determine if you may have an allergy prior to lashing, but even still .. reactions can happen and it’s important to be able to identify the difference between a reaction or an infection. Common allergy symptoms are - red irritated eyes that don’t go away within 36hours, severe swelling on one or both eyes, hot to the touch, itchiness / burning. If you experience an allergic reaction it’s important to reach out to your lash tech asap to discuss next step care.

Lash extensions should feel like they’re not even there, so if you’re questioning whether your extensions are in good condition or not I’m here for ya girl 🫶🏼🩷✨
