Did you know that there is more than one type of ingrown hair?

Some are painless and easy to treat, others can be inflamed, painful, and require extra TLC.

The biggest mistake I see in the treatment room is picking, squeezing, and digging at them, causing more damage to the skin (and not even being able to get the hair out) and leaving your skin with hyperpigmentation or scarring.

I know it’s tempting to pick, but instead, focus on:
• Consistent, gentle exfoliation
• Keeping the skin moisturized
• Reducing friction
• Following your sugaring aftercare
• Giving irritated skin time to calm down

And remember: if a bump is extremely painful, worsening, spreading, or showing signs of infection, it’s best to have it evaluated by a healthcare professional.

Waxing vs. sugaring… what’s actually the difference??

Both methods remove hair from the root and can leave you smooth for weeks, but the ingredients, application, and removal techniques are different.

Waxing typically uses a resin, beeswax, or oil-based wax that adheres to the hair and skin. It’s applied in the direction of hair growth and removed against it.

Sugaring uses just sugar, water + lemon. The paste is applied against the direction of hair growth and removed in the direction the hair grows. Meaning less potential for hair breakage.

For many clients, sugaring can mean less irritation, less redness, and a gentler experience, especially for sensitive areas like the Brazilian.

But the “best” method ultimately comes down to your skin, hair type, and personal preference 🩷
