• PERMINATOR •
•Anyone who knows me knows I have a pretty large bag of tricks to pull from after 21 years of hairdressing... it’s not just my career, it’s my favorite hobby next to myself 😉
•What you might not know is that I LOVE PERMS! I took a class several years ago + learned this technique at by a woman going by “The Perminator” + she would not do a perm if it took her more than 15 minutes to wrap + I became obsessed.
•With this technique of I was able to give to the ability to wash + wear for waves 〰️ or diffuse for more curl ➰OR blow dry smooth to get major volume!
•For a new mom these things can be life-changing + as passé as one might think a “perm” is, I think we could agree this ain’t your mom’s
# # # I’ll be back 😎

• BRONDE •
• It’s not “blonde” + it’s not really “brown” either so that’s what we’re calling these highlights on Miss Kennedy
💕
• I LOVE nothing more than finding the right hair COLOR for women OF COLOR because so many times they find their request for “highlights” leaves them either reddish or platinum without experiencing the myriad shades in between 🎨
• We wanted to stay a bit reflective so didn’t go for anything “ash” + instead opted for a golden beige formula to gloss her full head of highlights which I think works beautifully on this young lady’s amazing skin tone.
•She brought in pictures of two things, colors she was drawn to + pictures of PLACEMENT which is always a huge help during the consultation process. Seeing the results of her last balayage a bit warmer than she wanted so I opted for a combination Full Foil + Root Shadow + Gloss to give her the EFFECT she was after vs. painting our life away for 2-3 sessions. This way we save her time + 💰
Who doesn’t love that?!

• DIMENSIONAL BLONDE •

• Minimal foil work delivers maximum impact, but why??? 🤔🤔🤔

• The more “natural” color left between highlights, regardless if they’re foils or freehand painting will give the most POP 💥 💥💥

•The eye 👁 doesn’t appreciate your beautiful blonde ribbons without a little darkness/depth living next to them 🎹 🎹 🎹 Makes sense right?

• BRUNETTE BALAYAGE •

• When I say “healthy blondes” I don’t always mean PLATINUM! I mean maintaining the integrity of the canvas (hair!) on which we are working.

• Not just once ☝🏾but repeatedly + STILL minimizing damaging effects caused by the high 🧪 pH of bleach + the porosity damage of developers with plant based additive 🌱 in every formula, on every guest.
• Regardless of HOW “blonde” they are 💗

is humbling. You inspire me to be softer with myself + others.
• Feliz cumpleaños con amor para siempre hasta que yo muera 💕💀

•BOX COLOR BREAKUP•

•Any time a guest messages me for an appointment to take their 6 month old, at-home hair color from dark brown to blonde, my butt 🍑 puckers just a little 🤏🏾 with anxiety...
So what do I do?
• A CONSULTATION before the day of her appointment! During which time we decided that a “strand test” would be the best way to determine some very key 🔑 things:
1- How much time will it take to go lighter 💡
2- How light it would be possible to take their hair in one session while maintaining the hair’s integrity.
3-How many sessions it might take to achieve their desired look. The reality is MOST corrective color work takes multiple sessions + having a realistic strategy on how long that may take.
4- Cost 💰No one wants sticker shock + everyone appreciates transparency.
•The real bonus of doing a strand test is you can actually show your client how their hair will lift so they can both see exactly what you’re working with!
•During our strand test consultation we determined that Balayage wasn’t in the cards because her ends were the darkest area so we went with a application in foils so we could open each foil packet + reapply to the stubborn areas during processing to breakup this old color to make Balayage an option at our next session!
•4.5 hours, dozens of foils + 1 reapplication of bleach + root shadow + gloss + trim = ☝🏾 very pleased client who will have the hair of her dreams in our second session.
• Do you do consultations before doing col0r corrections on new clients or when making BIG changes 🚧 on your existing ones ???

•BABYLIGHTS + BALAYAGE•

•Slightly different than traditional foils, Babylights or Microlights are tiny, little baby highlights that I love to place in my trusty foils, specifically around the hairline for a softer look than balayage alone might be.
•On Daniella we placed Babylights around her face, alone her part + at the nape so when she pulls it up or back, we get that gorgeous blend with more “dimension” (meaning her natural color) left in the interior using a balayage technique + we WAIT...
•Time is EVERYTHING when bleaching, low + slow is the way we go with plant-based additive in every formula to protect her cuticle.
•Her foils and paint took about 90 minutes to apply + reapply in certain areas where there was slight “banding” from an older root color (she also has grey!).
•90 minutes to process + THEN we toned which took another 30 minutes.
•In total Daniella was with me from 11-4:00 by the time we were done with her cut because she’s a damn trooper + we know rushing bleach with high volumes of developer + heat = DAMAGE 💔 nobody wants that!
•Sometimes color isn’t as simple as “full foils” or “balayage”. Sometimes it requires multiple techniques, hours + a GREAT CONSULTATION with your stylist to make sure you’re on the same page where it comes to time, money + maintenance!
XOXO

•DIMENSION•

•We didn’t have 4 hours to refresh this chica’s months old and wanted to add a bit of depth + dimension.
•We shadowed her root +“dragged” it out a bit to blur any lines of demarcation with lowlights here + there to give her highlights more
POP 💡using ammonia-free color + 🌱 plant-based additive for added condition + repair until we do a FULL paint 🎨 again in 8 weeks 💕
