🖤 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEDUSA’S 🖤

9 years of Medusa’s and Almost 16 years behind the chair.

Which honestly feels both like a lifetime and also like I blinked and suddenly I have a mortgage, back pain and opinions about root touch-ups. 😂

When I started doing hair, I obviously had no idea where this would take me. I definitely didn’t anticipate all the different versions of myself I’d become along the way.

Part-time Jess.
Full-time Jess.
Back to part-time Jess.
“I need to put my family first” Jess.
“I think I’ve completely lost my mind” Jess.
And the occasional “maybe I should just burn the salon down and start over” Jess. 😂

And somehow… you guys stayed.

Especially my OGs.

The ones who have been sitting in my chair since the beginning and have willingly continued this questionable journey with me through every season. You’ve watched the schedule change, the salon change, me change, and you’ve somehow continued to trust me with your hair.

🖤 You understood when I needed to put my family first.
🖤 You understood when life got chaotic.
🖤 You understood when I couldn’t be everything to everyone.

And you still showed up.

You sat in my chair, handed me your hair, and basically said, “Here, do whatever. We trust you.”

Which is either incredibly sweet or incredibly concerning on your end! 🙃

Over almost 16 years, I’ve laughed with you, cried with you, celebrated with you and occasionally been your unpaid therapist while holding a foil brush.

I’ve done hair for weddings, divorces, engagements, pregnancies, breakups, new babies, new jobs, new houses, new beginnings and complete fu***ng disasters.

I’ve done hair in pajamas
I’ve done hair with flashlights when the power went out.
I’ve heard things that will absolutely be buried with me. 🤫

And somewhere along the way, Medusa became so much more than a salon🖤

It’s the people.
It’s the conversations.
It’s the friendships.
It’s the memories.

It’s the people who have watched me build this thing, struggle with this thing, love this thing, hate this thing, question every life decision I’ve ever made because of this thing… and still show up. 😂

Medusa wouldn’t exist without you.

And neither would a lot of the best parts of me.

But I’ll be honest, Burnout is real.

Sometimes when you’ve spent nearly 16 years giving pieces of yourself to everyone else, you look up and realize you’ve accidentally left yourself running on fumes and caffeine.

So I’m asking for a little help refilling that cup today on Medusa’s Birthday! 🖤

I was in the fifth grade. They shut all the lights off in the school and had us hide under our desks for a bit. The remainder of the day was spent sitting in the floor watching the TV as a classroom.

Basically, if you owned a butterfly 🦋 clip, listened to a burned 💿 on the way to school, and thought ☀️ Sun-in was a personality trait… this one’s for you!!

The 90s called…. and I answered! ☎️

And honestly… who am I to deny them? ✂️

We did it!!
We survived another summer of sticky kids, snack requests, pool hair, and approximately 4,827 “MOMMM!”s

Now it’s time to make these little feral creatures look like they belong in a classroom again. 🍎✏️
