Yin Haven is a modern ritual house for skin and soul.

Rooted in slow beauty, botanical intelligence, and intentional touch, we blend ancient traditions with modern skin science to restore radiance, balance, and the natural architecture of the face.

I’ve been noticing how my newest Korugi sculpting ritual creates a beautiful cocoon of rest, opening and closing with the eyes covered and space to drop into stillness.

A moment to rest the eyes, soften the nervous system, and turn inward.
There is something so valuable about allowing the eyes to rest and the awareness to move inward, even briefly.

It reminds me of pratyahara, the Ayurvedic and yogic concept often described as the withdrawal of the senses, and one of the eight limbs of yoga. In Ayurveda, the senses are understood to deeply affect the nervous system and overall wellbeing, which is why practices that soften overstimulation and invite rest are considered deeply restorative.

The deeper I explore facial massage and restorative touch, the more fascinated I become by the shared understanding across many Eastern approaches to wellbeing: that rhythm, circulation, stillness, and rest deeply affect how we feel and how we look.

My studies of Ayurveda during esthetics school, along with more recent studies in Japanese and Korean facial massage techniques, continue to shape the evolving philosophy of Yin Haven.

At the heart of it all is the yin principle: softness, restoration, receptivity, repair.

Where deep rest and visible results coexist.

Inside the Korugi Face Sculpting Ritual

A sculpting treatment rooted in Korean-inspired techniques, connective tissue flow, restorative compression, and lymphatic movement.

Beginning through the body’s fascial lines that influence the face, the ritual works to soften tension, encourage circulation, and support fluid movement throughout the tissues.

Finished with an organically sourced Japanese hydrating mask and restorative compression wrap to calm, cocoon, and awaken the skin.

Both sculpting and restorative.

A passage that stayed with me from Geisha, A Life
a book I deeply loved, yet this moment struck a unique chord with me

I’m drawn to these moments in beauty history
where traditional beauty practices
have long existed in quieter, more intentional ways

In reading this passage, I began to understand
that facial shaving carries deep, centuries old roots

This recognition inspires my approach
and lives on through my Kao Sori Silk Ritual
a modern dermaplaning treatment
named in honor of this Japanese tradition
Kao Sori, meaning “face shave”

A treatment inspired by these origins
where the skin is gently refined and prepared
leaving the complexion soft as silk
and a luminous canvas
like that of geisha makeup
where careful preparation is essential
for the application of the iconic white oshiroi

a ritual of refinement, carried forward

Two pure botanicals featured in The Japanese Lifting Ritual

Hinoki, a sacred cypress native to Japan, carries a fresh, woodsy aroma that both grounds and gently awakens the senses

Camellia seed oil, used for centuries in Japanese beauty rituals and favored for its ability to soften, protect, and impart a luminous sheen, delivers lightweight, silken nourishment rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids, supporting barrier integrity while enhancing glide for sculpting massage

intentional
where timeless tradition meets the present moment

Introducing the Japanese Lifting Ritual at Yin Haven.

This treatment emerged from my continued study of advanced facial massage traditions, including Japanese lifting techniques inspired by the Kobido lineage, developed to support circulation, tone, and longevity through skilled manual touch.

Rather than relying on products or devices alone, this work focuses on the living architecture of the face including muscle, fascia, lymphatic flow, and connective tissue.

Through rhythmic sculpting, myofascial release, and intentional lifting techniques, the treatment helps soften accumulated tension while encouraging balance, vitality, and natural expression.

For optimal results, this work is best experienced as a weekly to biweekly series to support visible transformation, followed by monthly maintenance or thoughtful preparation before special occasions. Customized treatment series are available for clients wishing to deepen results over time.

🌿 The Ritual of Masking

The skin speaks in seasons. 🍂
As the air cools and light softens, I’ve been leaning into the simple pleasure of masking, setting aside a few quiet moments each week to decongest, brighten, and nourish my skin.

I like to rotate between masks depending on how my skin feels that day, but one I especially love is Apoterra’s Hibiscus Exfoliating Mud (which you’ll always find stocked at my studio).

It’s a honey-based blend of fruit, flower, and antioxidant-rich botanicals that purifies without ever stripping, leaving the skin vibrant, hydrated, and smooth.

When I first began approaching my skin naturally, honey masking was a turning point in clearing my acne.
It helped soothe inflammation, rebalance oil production, and rebuild my skin’s trust in me.
This mask carries that same essence, with the added luminosity of hibiscus, pumpkin, and vitamin C–rich fruits that gently refine tone and texture.

Each ingredient works in harmony:
🍯 Raw Honey — enzyme-rich and antibacterial; draws moisture in while calming breakouts and irritation.
🌺 Hibiscus Flower — offers natural AHAs and antioxidants to smooth and support elasticity.
🎃 Pumpkin Pulp — enzymatic renewal with beta-carotene and minerals that enliven dull skin.
🍊 Camu Camu, Rosehip & Açaí — abundant in vitamin C to brighten, strengthen, and protect.
🌾 Colloidal Oats & Aloe Vera — soothe, restore, and maintain barrier balance.

Simple, earth-based masks like this one feel like a bridge to the ancients, a quiet return to the origins of beauty itself. Long before serums and actives, there was honey and fruit mixed by hand, offering the same renewal and nourishment we still seek today, reminding us of our connection to nature and the ancient heritage of beauty practices in their timeless wisdom.

Golden Season Stewed Pears 🍐✨
Lately I’ve been exploring TCM food therapy, and this simple recipe was inspired by my studies and a bit of kitchen experimenting with pear, lognan, goji, ginger, baby chrysanthemum, and a touch of honey into a soft autumn tonic.

A nourishing elixir for the autumn lungs and yin fluids, this gentle stew helps moisten dryness and soothe the spirit.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, pear cools and replenishes yin, while goji and lognan nourish blood and calm the heart–mind.
Ginger warms digestion so sweetness can be received, chrysanthemum clears heat from the eyes and skin, and honey harmonizes the whole, tonifying both lungs and spleen.

A golden bowl of calm to nourish yin and skin, soften the season’s dryness, and restore radiance from within.
