survivor but still struggle. 6 years ago i tried taking my life. 6 years ago i gave my life to Jesus. never did i think id make it to 28. thankful that im loved even when i don’t love myself. that i’m forgiven even when i feel like i don’t deserve it. that i have a second chance at life even when it felt like it had no point. it gets better. you ARE loved.

i turned 28 in july. it hit me hard this year. not sure why but i sat down & relived parts of my trauma. i thought to myself, “wow you really went through that, but look how far you’ve come.” im still healing, i still think of what hurt me every day. but its easier. i dont think ill ever tell my full story, some things are better left unsaid. it’s been 10 full years of living outside a house i could never call home. all the beatings, the words said, the pain shaped me to who i am now. i now realize that it’s actually not hard to be kind to a child. i am the person i needed back then.

i truly thought that darkness was going to win that night. i didn’t think my life would get any better. i knew no one would miss me. i had nothing to lose. i just wanted the pain, the struggle to end. i had dealt with it long enough. i’m happy it didn’t win. there’s something that is not spoken enough about & that’s finding Jesus on your own. when you’re crying so hard, but at the same time you can’t feel a thing. in that room where everything feels empty. that’s where i found him. not from the people that were “christians” but beat me behind closed doors, who stole my childhood. that wasn’t Jesus.

i gave my life to Him instead of taking it. He took me broken, full of hatred, and depression. i’m not perfect, i still struggle. i take my 80 mg of prozac every day even if i don’t want to. but i now feel a purpose to at least try to live. i now have a home where i feel safe and loved. i wake up every day not having to worry about walking on egg shells.

to who ever you are. whatever your story is. it gets better. i don’t know if it will ever be perfect, but close to it. let people in. see yourself as someone who deserves happiness. don’t let it win.
